Aoresteen
I have been wanting an Epi LP Junior in TV yellow DC set neck but they are very scarce & pricy. I settled on an Epi LP Junior Special in TV yellow with a bolt on neck. As soon as I got it I started the mods. First I swaped out the stock ceramic HB for a Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB model in yellow. Mucho much better! Next I added Schaller strap locks. My plan was to convert it to a 5 string and tune it to Open G. A bone nut was added with slightly wider spacing for the 5 strings. The junk tuners were replaced with a set of enclosed Ping tuners. This is a bolt on model String gages are .011, .015, .018, .030, .042 - just like Keef uses. The guitar plays nicely and sounds great! This is a great inexpensive way to add a 5 string guitar to your toolbox.
brad1
Good Job!!! Playing in open G is fun. And is a must if you want to play a lot of his stuff. Maybe someday I will have a dedicated 5-string too. I like the idea that it's always ready and waiting for your best Richard's riff. It looks great! I'm sure Keef would be proud! adam411booking
Wow she's a beauty. Good work (and good choice on the guitar)! I own a Les Paul Junior (Epiphone) in Alpine White and I absolutely love it! Glad to see some more love for the Junior's out here!
swamprock
Very cool! Juniors may be "one trick ponies", but they're very versatile depending on what mods you do to them. I love both of mine. Great work!

tweed2
Absolutely love mine. As fun to play as my Melody Makers (was), at 1/3 of the price. This one's set up for slide.

tweed2
Bolt on. I ended up paying $99 total (with hard shell case) to build it. This is what it looked like when I bought it for $49 off of eBay. What a POS.

lengle1981
Bolt on. I ended up paying $99 total (with hard shell case) to build it. This is what it looked like when I bought it for $49 off of eBay. What a POS. Firstly, great job! Been thinking of putting a p90 in a bolt on junior. Does it sit ok in the slot made by the humbucker? Secondly What do you use to strip the paint off like that? I stripped a casino years ago and sanded it down. Some bits were uneven but it addad to the look but yours looks like a really neat job. May give this a go, I think ill be putting some white button tuners on also. Did u just leave the same bridge on it?
tweed2
Firstly, great job! Been thinking of putting a p90 in a bolt on junior. Does it sit ok in the slot made by the humbucker? I had to chisel out a little at the ends, not much. Secondly What do you use to strip the paint off like that? A big honking belt sander, the guy laid it on thick. Then lighter and lighter grits. I stripped a casino years ago and sanded it down. Some bits were uneven but it addad to the look but yours looks like a really neat job. When you say "uneven" do you mean a blotchy finish? If so, hitting it with progressively lighter sandpaper and then using a sealer before staining helps a bunch. I use Behlens sealer, stain and top coat. Available thru WoodCraft and others. May give this a go, I think ill be putting some white button tuners on also. Did u just leave the same bridge on it? Same bridge. My goal was to stay under $100, total outlay. lengle1981
Is it yellow stain you used then? It looks that way or is it just the photo that gives it that look. Didn't use a sealer, I just stained it, I wouldn't even know what that is ha. I did a good job luckily but if I can pick up one of these cheap I'm gonna put a p90 in it. After the casino went all my guitars currently have humbuckers. Cracking job though, it looks great. Apologies for all the questions too.
tweed2
Behlens Golden. My camera sometimes adds some color tones, but that picture is pretty close. Used the same finish on this guitar, different wood though. That's a maple veneer overlay on a ? Squier body, hence the color difference between the front and side.
