cesario
Hey I am going to have put a guitar a way for a while I was thinking about just leaving it in its case but I am not sure if that would be safe enough so does anyone have any advise
zigzag
Leaving it in the case is a good idea. Do not loosen strings and avoid temperature and humidity extremes.

badbluesplayer
It's best to store it standing up if possible.
RaysEpiphone
In its case, a hard-shell case with felt liner. I knew a guy that left a cheap 12 string in a closet standing up on end with the headstock against the wall, with out a case for about 8 month's or so. When he picked it up the neck was very bowed, he took it to his regular tech guy who had to step by step, bit by bit, adjust the truss-rod until it was back in the right spot.
