  1. Yesterday was th 38th anniversary of Gael and I living together and we were intending to go out for tea but as we were in town we had lunch instead.

Went to the bowling club and I ordered Chicken Sate' and rice to be given 3 tiny bits of chook and about half a cup of boiled rice, not enough to fill anyone I reckon. Fortunately they have an extensive veggie and salad bar so I loaded up on those.

Just had bits & pieces for tea, not really hungry.

  2. For brekky I had a cheese & ham toasted sandwich smothered in baked beans. Lunch was an egg, lettuce and mayo roll and an apple. Tea wasn't quite a mixed grill but there were beef sausages, 2 lamb chopps peas, carrots & mash plus a mixture of onion, tomato & zucchini topped with breadcrumbs & cheese & grilled.

    Here ya go:

  3. Yep I eat that...it's yummy! Fat beef sausages, chips and a couple of our fresh eggs smothered in tomato sauce!

Incidentally both my cholesterol levels are excellent!

Last night we had Gael's sister Roz and her bloke come for tea. Gael did her pot Roasted beef and roast veggies. It was a memorable meal!

  4. Beer battered? The best burger I ever had was cooked on a large grill at a Doberman Pinscher show afterwards by a guy who must of soaked an entire 6 pack of beer on a bunch of burgers. I was thinking, Ech, that's way too much he's soaking in there and can't remember how many burgers were on the grill but it was good. The alcohol burns off anyway but it did leave a flavor. I may dislike beer but I love beer cheese on spaghetti too. Today I had a buffet with Deb and Grayson.

Yep beer battered chips is quite the thing here these days and they are quite nice though probably not that good for you.

I eat too much potato, love the stuff!

I'll have them any way they are going!

The potatoes we had last night were lovely though just boiled. We are seeing varieties we haven't had before and most are for a specific type of cooking, and I guess that means we have to have a couple of types now and buy more spuds as a result.

Speaking of what we are eating, my Golden Delicious apples are just about ripe and I've started to eat them. They are still slightly tart but soon they will be exquisite. I like that tartness anyway and that's why Pink Lady are an overall favourite, both sweet and tart at the same time. You can't beat the juiciness of home grown apples though!

  5. That's my kind of meal. Just love turkey. Hot turkey sandwich is great. 2 slices of bread with mahesed potatoes in the middle and oven baked turkey on each side with gravy poured over. Yumm.

That's how I like fried potatoes rather then greasy deep fried like fast food places do it here. We had spaghetti for lunch and I had a salad for dinner. I'm trying to go cholesterol free till June when I go back to the doctors and have mine checked. Looked at some bacon, I had an urge for some as I haven't had any for awhile and Oh, No! There's a lot of cholesterol in Bacon.

If I remember correctly, they were beer battered wedges, they were nice but too many of them.

  6. We met friends in town for lunch yesterday and this was mine! Yes in true Aussie style it had a runny egg and beetroot....Yum!

I'm sure people thing I'm mad taking photos of my meal and I've given up explaining about photos being for this thread, but I had an i Pad with me, so why not?

Strangely I didn't need much for tea!

  7. Deb and I were somewhere and they put a egg on top of the burger but it wasn't cooked on top, just a little on the bottom and the white was still runny. Took it off then ate the burger. Like my eggs over medium but the yellow still runny inside some. We had a small mini pizza today.

I like my eggs runny but not the whites, that's ridiculous!

  8. Don't understand why so many commit suicide? Each year in the U.S. 44,193 Americans die by suicide according to AFSP "American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. On average, there are 121 suicides per day. Firearms account for almost 50% of all suicides. Well, it's Tax Time coming upon us again, probably there goes a bunch more!Hamburger with two strips of bacon, tomato and lettuce, garlic mashed potatoes and a small cup of beans with a squeezed glass of orange juice.

Farmers here at times are facing harsh conditions, low fertility soil plus years of drought mean that sometimes when they are looking at losing holdings that have been in their families for generations, they cant face seeing it going to the banks. Very sad because they are really good farmers but just cant beat nature.

I have to have an egg on my hamburger Butch, no good without one! Aussies also love beetroot on hamburgers and if you haven't tried one, give it a go!

    Roast lamb tonight!

    Smells great!

Time for me to do the veggies.

  9. Looking good Rob!

Thanks Dennis, it was lovely eating out there this morning. Well except for having to chase next door neighbour's cows out. It seems I have a branch down over the fence that I have to deal with later. Cheeky bugger nicked a couple of my apples on the way out!! It's OK I have enough to share~

  10. I've only met some Australians, they were farmers from I think Queensland,I could be wrong on that. They thought us American farmers had it made because of our subsidies and we had the winter off. When I informed them what a winter was like they thought differently after that....🌬

No subsidies here, it's all straight up and then they also have to fight a difficult climate, just not cold and snow.

Suicide rates among farmers here is very high.

  11. I made this stuff called shakshuka. Basically eggs in tomato sauce with some Swiss chard. It was super good,

and since we have chickens we always need new ways to eat eggs.

How many chooks have you got SP?

We've got 4 and ATM we have two bowls full of eggs and are going to have to give some away as we will never eat them all.

  12. You're kidding me right? There are only like 6 people from Australia living in the US. [biggrin] Not one of our larger sources of immigrants for some reason.

As nice as it must be there I cant see one reason to leave here, so if others feel the same maybe thats why.

I've never had Roo or Camel, nor Croc but have tried Venison but didn't care for it much.

I'd rather throw (a green) shrimp in a stir fry than on the barbie to be honest, and I dont drink Fosters.

However I do like Paul Hogan, just not so much as Crocodile Dundee.

"Throw another cow on the barbie will ya love?"

    Grin~

  13. G'day mate... Shrimp on the Barbie.. Some of that Foster's beer that's now brewed in Texas... etc. [biggrin]

    G'day mate to you too.

Nah! None of that is fair dinkum, Aussies are more likely to have snags, lamb chops or a steak on the Barbie than prawns! Or even chicken.

As for Fosters...well you said it, brewed in Texas!

Are there even any Aussies working there?
