  2. Sadly, everyone hasn't learned to ignore them. If they send out a million and get two suckers, they profit. And they obviously get a lot more than that. Thankfully, there is a scroll wheel on my mouse. Thanks again to KS and the other moderators who have to spend their time nuking them. Notes ♫

  6. They are better than they used to be, but still not quite there. Perhaps they never will be. There are advantages and disadvantages to them. I prefer acoustic, but for the backing tracks I make for my duo, I use MIDI drums. There is more than one right way to make music. Insights and incites by Notes ♫
  7. I come from an Italian-American family, and I hear a variety of mispronunciations of Italian food loke MOT-sir-ELLA cheese. It doesn't bother me at all. My neighbors from Indiana used to call the first meal of the day Brefkist. And we caught these little prawns and they called them srimp. When Mrs. Notes and I took a trip to the UK, we drove around in a rented car for a month and then spend the last 4 days in London. We spend the evenings in the squares where there were buskers and artists before going out to explore the night life. On the third day the guy at the hotel desk asked us if we went to Lester Square yet? We said we hadn't and he got out a map to show us where it was. He pointed to something called Leicester square, and we said, "Oh yes! We went there, heard the buskers, saw a guy carrying an alto sax case, started a conversation, and he got us into a private club as a friend of the band." How the English ever got Lester out of Leicester is beyond me, but now I know how to pronounce it. For me, there is no reason to get irritated when someone mispronounces something, or if they get pretentious and want to use the non-American publication. There are enough things to get irritated about in this life without looking for more. I'm pretty much a live and let live guy. Insights and incites by Notes ♫
  8. We do that a lot, don't we? I, for one, don't want to pronounce Champagne or Montreal the way the French people do. No one here would understand me. After visiting quite a few countries on this planet, others do the same thing with our words so it's fair play. Notes ♫

  11. Mrs. Notes and I play no louder than 85dba unless they ask us to play louder. It is our responsibility not to damage the hearing of our guests. We are the pros, we should know. We are a duo http://www.s-cats.com and I make my own backing tracks. I can do this because I play sax, wind synth, flute, bass, guitar, drums, keyboard synth, and voice. My first instrument was drums. In bigger bands, I used to get back on the kit to let the drummer do something else, it's good show biz to have people switching instruments. Now I pre-record them on the +600 backing tracks we have. There is a difference between acoustic drums and electronic drums. It takes a while to adapt to them as playing style is different, and your expectations of what it will sound like when doing certain things is different. The advantage is that you can play aggressively at a low volume. On an acoustic kit, the drums don't sound right when playing a hard rock/pop/country song at a low volume. With the electrics, you can hit them hard, and turn the volume down. Kudos to you for wanting to play at a sane volume level. Notes ♫

  14. My mother-in-law got relief from PEMFT. Pulsed ElectroMagnet Field Therapy. The PEMFT machine needs to emit a square wave, north polarity and the highest strength you can find. The pulsed field loosens the calcium build up, and immediately after you are supposed to drink a lot of water to flush it out while it was still dislodged. After her therapy insurance ran out, we bought her a home unit. Thankfully, the diet worked for me. Notes ♫
  15. I'm curious. Has anyone tried the Arthritis/Bursitis diet I posted earlier in this thread? If so, is it working for you? Notes ♫

  19. I wish I wasn't slowly wearing down the finish on my guitar, flute, and saxophone. But when you gig for a living, it happens. And we do 3 days a week, outdoors, under a canopy, but on the public beach. I like their looks better when they were brand new. Now, I guess they have 'character'. Again, I don't understand intentionally distressing a guitar, but there are a lot of things in the world that others do that I don't understand. As long as it doesn't harm me, it's OK. Notes ♫
