Good job there Duane. I would be a little worried about how the headstock was repaired in the first place. Decent repairs usually have some kind of spline that they route in the back of the neck where the break happened. You will find out I guess when you get some strings on. Looking good though

Yes I use similar knobs.. I found that this is the secret to more tone from your guitar 😄

You see the way that the tuners are at an angle that goes with the curve of the side of the headstock.. Gibson dont to that. They are usually in line.

Just as it says... They use hide glue which is very traditional instead of the more modern white wood glues.. The good thing about hide glue is its easy to heat up and remove... PVA wood glue as its called (titebond) is much harder to remove say a neck joint.. Some say that hide glue makes for better contact and more sustain and stuff like that.. But really its more of a nod to the traditional ways and what they use on customs and stuff to get them more close to the original specs of the 50s guitars they made. Hide glue also stinks when heated (and you have to heat it first to use it).. Its literally melted animal fat.

Kind of a pointless thread but tonight I was given a small gift by my brother in law who drives stuff about the UK and Europe.. And one of his regular customers is a magazine publisher. He got me a copy of that book of David Gilmours auctioned guitars before it came out which was cool. And tonight I got three Guitar magazines. I used to get these all the time, but many many years ago. And actually I have to say its quite nice thumbing through a magazine rather than reading it on a computer screen for a change. Is there anyone that still actually buys these?

Yes its like things that always cost one penny or pound less. Like 2999k for a Gibson.. We all know that effectively means 3000k yet its done to appear cheaper than it is.. Its so pathetic.. Even though I am sure it works.. Its that kind of stuff that I am kind of sick of. The illusion of good.. I know, its marketing, thats how they do things.. But its just so boring, and obvious.

Yeah.. Dont get me wrong.. They all actually look really nice and I am sure they are but like their high end guitars they are not for the "normal" person.. And there are always people who have the money and will buy it which is fine. But I just long for the days when Gibson was just a guitar company. I know they have to make money and we live in a tough financial world but id rather they concentrate on making guitars. In saying that, at least this sort of thing is comparatively cheap to do compared to when Henry was for some odd reason buying up random electronic companies.

Yeah, I love those albums.. And Kill em All too.. Thats just so heavy and raw and each song has loads of great riffs.. I was also into the Black album at the time and saw them gig loads during that era but never listen to that anymore.

Are there any cheaper decent multi effects pedals? I am thinking of getting one for my brother in law for xmas. But only want to spend more like 150.... I am trying to find a decent one of those that have an expression/wha built in... Even though I know obviously at that price its not gonna be quite as good.. Either that or just a good old Cry Baby which I can get for that sort of price.....
