  1. Ha.. Its also up on EBay . The price difference between sites is just mad.. Just shows how much they are trying to screw people for. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225386480043?hash=item347a14c1ab:g:nvcAAOSw1ExjXorZ&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoErY9ty9OS%2BwdL20HCMaxt78en%2FZFoNFiBlktUJslcBw0lyd%2BzBMSspvGouymYC28Z25xPHhJw3Rt72L8Vd25vYs56ELqMAu3ARlG8YQkT2yTLyAKdbEWhutxi59gbTtpm%2BomXZycJfwFJv%2FKIN3gP%2Fm4SdJ2bTh1uEL8S1Y97xlXAK7nBiPfSiCSf%2F0l5xlzsDRdFBr7cZCFBxyKIFj5pI%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR6jy_J3TYQ In fact this is what happened last time.. I saw the 336 on ebay as I am not actually signed up to Reverb and then got an offer that I just couldn't refuse.. In this case there is no way they are gonna drop it lower than about £3800.. Which is still too much.
  2. I have had some evil thoughts about offering a trade with one of my 336s... But still.. Its just that much too much.... edit: If it were about 3k, I probably would have bought it by now 😄

  4. Lol.. Im glad its not just me... 😄
  5. Just when you thought you were safe from GAS after acquiring two amazing 336s.. I thought I would be done even wanting another guitar.. But this one popped up on my screen and my god, I dont need it, I never even thought of having one that colour. But man, I want it 😄 Its that much out of my price range even if I wanted to buy another guitar. But I still want it ... Man does this never stop... Its a 1988 LP Lite.. But just look at that colour. #
  6. Never heard that one before.. Maybe it was a custom ordered one? Im not sure what about a guitar spec could be confidential? Well you wont hear from any Gibson employees on here...
  7. Did you buy it new or second hand? Similar guitars that I can see have covered pickups. If it was second hand it could have been modified that way by its previous owner (not an un common thing to do).... Other than that it looks quite a lot like one of the Slash models.. You can always email Gibson customer service. What is it exactly you want to know?
  8. It looks like you made two threads and one has pics and one doesnt.. You can delete a post. What year is it?
  9. This is the thing. These films are made by people who cant get Hollywood backing but are passionate about making a film anyway. Peter Jackson and Sam Rami started this way making cheap budget horror films... Some of is also is from the early days of CGI and was a proof of concept if you like, showing what can be done with modern computer graphics. Of course some of them are just total rubbish but some of them show signs of genius.
  10. There was also one about a killer rubber tire called Robert. And yes I have actually seen all the ones I have posted, including this one 😄
  11. Ha.. That reminds me of Kung Fury.. Made to be cheesy and totally ridiculous. Even the font they use is similar.
  12. Yup.. I would say though as others have said.. If you havent, go try one first. It may not be what you expect.. Like me, I went for the smaller body 336 which way more suits my preferences and does most of what a 335 can do and more. And im no Hendrix.. But I love owning and playing them regardless (as I have 2 now).
  13. You should ask in the Acoustic section of the forum. You will probably get more answers over there.
  14. No worries... From what he says on the web site, one of the main things (as with most finishing) is to get the surface as flat as possible. I scuff-sanded the black using 800 grit paper and filled any dings using car body filler. I then primed (my White Primer) and sanded smooth repeatedly until the surface was 100% blemish-free. Next step was to spray a few coats of Shell Pink until the colour was uniform and opaque
  15. Actually I just did a quick search on another forum im on. A UK one called The Fretboard. He actually answered in a thread that yes, he has done it before and it worked. And he put a link to his site where he shows the a guitar he did it on https://manchesterguitartech.co.uk/2011/04/11/shell-pink-stratocaster-refinish/ In his post he says Yes I painted this over the original black finish I keyed it with 800 grit paper, then primer, colour and clear coat. So there you go from someone who has done it.. Apparently it will work. Id still strip it 🙂
  16. What you want me to ask? This is his site https://manchesterguitartech.co.uk/
  17. I once stripped a Squire P bass and then stained and finished with nitro.. I have never even thought of spraying nitro over the top of poly before though... I cant see nitro curing on a poly finish properly as it wont sink in to the wood first and get a good bond, it might just flake off. And if you rough it up too much its not going to look very good is it? Also, and I know this is probably not that much of a consideration but I just wouldnt want that much finish on a guitar. Some poly finishes are almost like having a layer of plastic over your guitar. I do know a guy here in the UK who makes his own Nito spray cans. He really knows his stuff. I could ask him if you want or give you his website details and you could ask yourself. I would strip it.
  18. So which sanding method did you use in the end? Looks good which ever one you went for
  19. There is no real thing as a standard setup really as its all down to personal preference and the way you play, how you hold the guitar and even the strings you like... Its one thing we get on here a lot, people want to know how to set up a guitar to factory standards.. But there arent any really. Its why its a good idea to learn how to do a setup yourself. Its not as hard as people think.
  20. Many congrats... Like you, the first time I ever played a 336 I knew I had to have one, one day.. That was over a decade ago now.. And like you I also bought one.. And it was my first custom shop. And then a year later I bought another one 😄 But like you it was just a good deal I couldnt pass. The first one is a more standard humbucker version and when I bough that one it was like the last one in the country at the time (over two years ago now) and I had the money at the time so bought it, About a year later a P90 made 2 measure version came up for sale and it cost £2600 (after being dropped from £2800) and I just had too. Also like you I thought there must be something wrong with it at that price. But no, its perfect. I find them to be the perfect guitar. Cant really add much to what the others have already said apart from just be really careful if you try to force the knobs down. Its easier to break a pot than you think. I have built several guitars and have made that mistake more than once. But these are my babies... I then ended up changing the plastics to black on the P90s one I doubt I will ever need to buy another guitar after these additions. Its mad, I never even thought id ever own one custom let alone two.
