  2. Secret Lemonade Drinker (70s uk TV ad) - Ross Macmanus (backing vocal by his son Elvis Costello)
  3. Or they post up a picture on here to ask 'is this normal?' other types of QC: Quartermaster Corps Queen's Council (or Horace Rumpole's version Queer Customer)
  4. Nice job SheepDog1969, There's dedication needed for sure. I even like the At this point, you will defiantly see a difference.
  5. I'd rather have one of those. The triple saddle doesn't look designed. More like it was cobbled together from a bucket of bits. Probably why the ashtray cover was provided.
  6. The most surprising thing for me was the sudden drop in temperature. It went from warm and sunny to bleak and cold.
  7. No disrespect to Jimmy & value aside, I wouldn't give one of those house room.
  8. I know it was frustrating, but that is so funny. I can imagine Sundance doing that.
  9. I have not seen anything like this before. Its the stain that's coming off. Gibson state that the nitro varnish is porous, so not only is the varnish thin, but it will get thinner over time. The stain is leeching through I think. This looks like a colourfast problem and I wish I knew what to suggest. In your shoes I would feel exactly the same. Is the guitar fairly new? Gibson don't generally guarantee finishes, but they should be made aware of this IMO and advise you too. We are a fan - user based forum, so Gibson are very unlikely to notice this. 10. No I didn't think you were complaining. As I dont/cant measure my action I cant solve the issue you outlined. I think maybe RCT might be able to. If I recall correctly, he sets up to specs. I just made a suggestion that might have made a difference. There again, it might not! Good luck. Calling RCT... !
  11. I was going to raise the points Rabs did. He beat me to it and did a better job too. He's quite correct.
  12. Hi, I've never measured action on a setup. I did try a couple of times. I just cannot do it accurately enough. I always set up my guitars though and always get a low action with no fret out issues. If I cant achieve this, its because of an issue with the guitar. A very small twist can result in a less than ideal setup. Probably your guitar (s) are fine. So I'm wondering if the relief is correct? If you eyeball this looking down the neck, the relief on the treble side should ideally be just perceptible and the wound side a bit more (this does vary between guitars though). It should never be the other way around though.
  13. Mike C, Out of curiousity what guitar model is this ? I'm not sure what I'm looking at. Is is clearcoat or binding? both ? ...but no nibs
  14. You are certainly not alone. There are a bunch of people like us, I was always pushing E strings into fresh air on Fenders.
  15. I have twice bought guitars of the same model. I added a Jackson (Elite) Soloist to an older Soloist I'd been using for 15years. I no longer have either of them, but at the time. The original Soloist was my one and only gigging guitar. Years on, I also bought a 2nd Rickenbacker 650. Like you, this is my favourite model. For some reason I wanted a 2nd one. The 2nd Soloist was a mistake. It had active pickups that I grew to despise. I sold it and continued with just one guitar again. The 2nd Ric 650 was quite different. Lighter body, easier feeling neck and an oiled finish instead of clearcoat. I have no plans to lose either of them. There are always variation between guitars, so try out other V's first. If you just cant stop thinking about it, then act I'd say. Even if you cant find a V that compares with yours, you've still learned something important. That you already have the better guitar. BTW these are the 650s
  16. I'll bet he was forbidden to practice at home. Its hard to respond to anything about drummers without making a joke.. My favourite drummer joke: The drummer is sick and tired all all the jibes, the p1sstakes, the constant bombardment of jokes at his expense. The suggestion that he is not an equal musician, is mentally dull and is deserving of derision. The day after a particularly bitter experience at band practice, he decides he's had enough. He's going to be a guitarist. He heads to the store and tells the assistant "ok then, I want a Marshall 100w stack, a USA Stratocaster, populated pedalboard, and a pick. The assistant eyes him up and down & says "You're a drummer aren't you ?" "ok, ok, so what gave me away ?" "You're in a burger bar"
  17. We both infer what was meant. Nevertheless "No Gibson guitars are built in Japan that are of a superior quality to an American Gibson" The qualifier there is highlighted. In terns of grammar, it is making a comparison between Japanese & American built Gibsons.
  18. I'm not sure you meant to say that. To be clear, Gibson guitars are only made in the USA. What are the originals you refer to ???
  19. Thanks for the May Blitz link john. New to me and liked it.
