  1. A brilliant conclusion. All's well that ends well, then. ๐Ÿ™‚
  2. I actually prefer a padded, structured gig bag to a hard shell case. Cases are heavy, and only really useful to me when shipping or flying with a guitar (which is never really happens in my world). My favorites, in that vein? Ibanez PowerPad. Gibson Premium Soft Case Fender FET padded gig bag I own, by the way, a couple of the Gibson padded gig bags (like this one below). I'm not a fan. They seem overly tight, like they were made a half inch too short.
  3. Holy MOLY that's a lot of guitars!! ๐Ÿคฏ
  4. I'm a weirdo. My guitars hang on the walls 24/7, so I can grab one whenever the mood strikes me. The cases and gig bags are neatly standing on the right wall of my music room closet. Ready for transport, whenever transport is warranted. ๐Ÿ˜
  5. I love Christmas, Larsongs. I am blessed with so many fond memories of Christmas as a child, and years later, raising my daughter in Germany. Christkindlmarkt, gluhwein, the chill in the air, snow on the ground, so wonderful. All my memories are from late December, obviously, through all those decades. And so nowadays, walking into the store to pick up groceries in October and November, and tripping over Christmas displays, on the other hand, it's just wrong. I really hate it. ๐Ÿ˜ž
  6. Actually, quite a few years ago. Now that I reflect on it. But it's not like Walmart ever listens to me. And yes, I sent the song to Walmart, a few times over the years. ๐Ÿ˜
  7. Department stores are clearing out the Halloween stuff, already, and schlepping in Christmas decorations and displays. I rarely go into Walmart (and places like that) as it is, but in the past few years, their habit of putting Christmas stuff out in October put me completely off shopping there. I wrote this song, accordingly, just a few years ago. http://chirb.it/JEwaA1 Too soon, indeed. All this marketing of Christmas stuff months early absolutely drives the magic and the wonderfulness of Christmas right out of me. ๐Ÿ˜”
  8. Well, if there is, it was hiding in the closet when I got home after work today. ๐Ÿ˜”
  9. I have had good luck with these two companies: https://www.allparts.com/ https://www.stewmac.com/ Good luck!! ๐Ÿ™‚
  10. I bought the table on Oahu in 1999. Some import furniture store who specialized in great stuff from Indonesia. Monkeywood, with coconut inlays. Pure guitar table tone. ๐Ÿ˜ž
  11. Yessir, it's pau ferro wood on the fingerboard. It'll get a little oil this weekend. The pickups are called Pure Vintage '65 Reissue Jazzmaster Pickups. I'm trying to read up on them. Seems they aren't exactly P90's, but rather something altogether different. From the inter-webs: * Enamel-coated magnet wire delivers warm vintage-style tones * Alnico 5 magnets add more focus and enhanced dynamics * Flush-mount polepieces produce even string response * Wax-potted * Period-correct cloth wire and fiber bobbin construction ๐Ÿค”
  12. Yes, some F1 Oil is in order, post-haste!! ๐Ÿ˜€
  13. That's a tough call. Most likely have to say Imperial Bedroom. ๐Ÿ™‚
  14. In my opinion, after seeing those examples of an admittedly rare Gibson, I would say yes. I think you have a really nice example of that model. Congrats, good sir. ๐Ÿ™‚
  15. I believe that mihcmac is onto something. And my faith in human-kind is slowly restored. ๐Ÿ˜€
  16. I sold off a lot of guitars over the past few months. Four were divested this past week alone. All in order to make room for a guitar that I've been lusting for for quite some time. Probably since 1981, when I first picked up Elvis Costello's album Trust out of a sale bin in a record store in Wiesbaden, Germany, back in the day. I admired his quirky song-craft and eccentric guitar playing. I was an avid fan for many albums and many years, from Almost Blue to beyond Spike to Mighty Like The Rose. I listened to When I Was Cruel just the other day. And I always fancied owning a Fender Jazzmaster some day. One like his, or a close facsimile. And so that day came today. The 2021 Fender Player Jazzmaster black-faced CME Limited Edition. I love it. I need to bring the pickups up just a few miles closer to the strings, but congrats to the Chicago Musical Exchange for an otherwise nicely set-up guitar. ๐Ÿ˜—
  17. Boy oh boy. The zebra humbuckers speak to a pair of replacement items at best. The truss rod cover lettering seems to me to be atypical. The non-matching backside is troubling. (Based on examining other 2011 Gibson ES335's online.) I'm no expert. I'll stand by for the real pro's to weigh in. ๐Ÿ˜—
  18. Yessir. Considering that I was up to 21 guitars at one point earlier this year, I'm happy to be settling in at 13 total, as of today's arrival of the Jazzmaster. (Three acoustic/electrics, one solid body electric bass, one ukulele, one hollowbody electric, and seven solid-body electric six string guitars. ) It's still a daft and vexing addiction, but I feel like I'm making progress in reeling it in. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
  19. Well then. All's well that ends well. ๐Ÿ˜
  20. I sold three electric guitars and one electric bass guitar today. The Latest Purge, in other words. Getting things down to a manageable number of instruments. Just in time for my new Jazzmaster to arrive tomorrow afternoon, I reckon. NGD post to follow tomorrow evening, I am sure. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
  21. Wait; Wrong like a Priest and an altar boy in a hot tub, or like some lesser form of wrong? ๐Ÿคจ
