  1. Looks and sounds interesting! Best of luck, and please let us know how she holds up on the next job, mate. 😁
  2. Oh man. Prayers for peace and comfort to the whole family. 😞
  3. It could've been a lot worse. 😬 Okay, I'm gonna shut up now. πŸ˜”
  4. Oh well heck, Carol B. I was just going to suggest that you pickup this BC Rich Mockingbird (in the Denver area) for a little over $200, and then flip it later on. It's not precisely an Explorer or Destroyer shape, but it's still pretty wicked. https://denver.craigslist.org/msg/d/denver-bc-rich-mockingbird-2015/7385621247.html Glad you found that Stratosphere nonetheless. 😁
  5. I agree with the others, merciful-evans and Ian Henry, and like them, the Peter Honore video got me to thinking also; What if you hit that area with a blow-dryer, on high heat? Heat it up for thirty seconds and see if the strange pattern fades. Heat it up again for longer, and see if it fades permanently? What do you have to lose? 😬

Oh man. I love that guitar so much!! Two knobs and a rocker switch. Sublime. πŸ™‚
  7. Carol B, I checked all the guitar shops and stores in the Denver area, and even perused Craigslist looking for a black Gibson Explorer (or similarly-shaped black guitar). Came up dry. Didn't have any luck at all. There are a number of bad-*** black guitars available though. Are you dead-set on the Explorer body shape? 😬
  8. I always play, perform, and practice with the guitar strapped on, and stepped up to the mic stand. Strapped on and centered above my belly button, but below my sternum. Arms are free to move and make music at that point. πŸ™‚
  9. Roo, Can you post a photo of the front of the guitar overall, one close-up of the front of the headstock, and one close-up of the back of the headstock? That would really help a lot. 😬
  10. Just got in from work. Flew a night mission. It was nice out there tonight. No rain, no storms, no low ceilings. Just good weather and a pleasant, terrific fellow to fly with. πŸ˜—
  11. So, was this guy selling kale or macarons, or both? πŸ˜—
  12. My Guitar Center dudes are all players, most of them are gigging musicians. They generally never try to steer me wrong. But then again, I very rarely need any advising. πŸ€”
  13. I like it. And I have a penchant for jacked up fakes and cast-off pawn shop irregulars. What do you want for it? πŸ™‚
  14. I just drove up to McDonald's and tried to order a McDLT. They looked at me like I was crazy. I get that a lot. 😞
  15. A forever guitar that is lightweight and beautiful? The Gibson SG Naked springs immediately to mind. πŸ˜€
  16. My favorite Texas chain. We are getting a Whataburger here in Madison, Alabama. quite soon. I'm so excited! 😜
  17. My dogs have run a mud rut around the corner of the back yard, and the armyworms have raised holy hell lately. Ugliness abounds. πŸ˜” So I put in a new border and gravel dog run, and we'll see how this works out. Hope springs eternal. 😬
  18. Thanks for the review, fretplay. John Mayer is an excellent guitar player, intelligent fellow, and an accomplished songwriter. He has turned off many with his self absorbed nonsense and public drama. But I like the guy. He's one of the very best of our times. πŸ™‚
  19. I would check the pickup height beneath the strings, and adjust as necessary to make the current (excellent) pickups achieve their full potential. It would be a shame to perform surgery on a perfectly healthy patient, eh? 😬
  20. Looks interesting for sure. Thanks for sharing that, jdgm. Much appreciated. πŸ™‚
  21. Original Floyd Rose tremolo system on that 1986 Vanguard. Try allparts. They deliver fast. https://www.stewmac.com/search/?q=floyd πŸ™‚
  22. Thanks, tx-ogre. We've actually got a few Krystal burger joints here in Huntsville. I have had breakfast sandwiches from them before, but not the actual burgers. Maybe today is the day! πŸ˜€
  23. Unrelated, but in a similar vein, I wonder how this warbling, tremolo piano effect was achieved. (Recent re-mix of George Harrison's Isn't It A Pity, mixed by Paul Hicks, executive production by Dhani Harrison.) It's really odd, but beautifully haunting. πŸ˜”
  24. Went on a road trip back in 1987 with some good buddies. Lower Alabama to Lake St. Louis and back in four days. The plan was to drive the gas guzzling rag top Cadillac up there, pick up a boat that Bill's mom didn't want anymore, and bring it back home for some fixing up and water skiing enjoyment. Two of the fellows dropped us off, and they split off and visited family in Herculaneum, MO for the weekend. Bill and I spent some time with his mom, and then had an evening out in St Louis with his brother Scott, who was about to graduate college with a business degree. I recall a lot of drinking, and then the three of us ending up at the White Castle on Broadway at 1:30 a.m. Good burgers, good friends, good times. πŸ™‚
