  1. Not likely at all for 2022, according to the Gibson website. You might have to do like I did this year; find one online from a few years ago, and buy it. Mine is a 2011 Melody Maker SG. I found it in brand new condition on Reverb. LOVE this guitar. 🙂
  2. Photos would add to the value of the discussion. 🙂
  3. All my thoughts and prayers to the families of the nearby residents who lost their lives following the eruption. I should have led with that in the first place. My head ain't screwed on too tight today. 😑
  4. .....in the guitar supply chain. If you are into Squiers, Samicks, Yamahas, Corts, and some select Fenders, that is. 😞 https://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/at-least-14-dead-following-eruption-of-mount-semeru-in-indonesia/1056819
  5. I must say that I like the hard tail version without the F holes. If they made one with chrome or pewter hardware instead of the gold, I would be all in. 🙂
  6. I like it. Reduces weight, which is important to players with aged spinal structures. 🙂
  7. Very nice!! I particularly like the subdued 'barely there' fret markers. And I don't miss the headstock crown icon one bit. Two thumbs up. 🙂 PS Blacked out, blacked out, blacked out.
  8. Used guitar prices have risen too, as others have noted. Interesting times. Kinda glad that I have most of my dream guitars already in hand. An early first generation BFG still eludes me though. Same with the Firebird I in Silver Mist finish. 🤨
  9. I love it. Two knobs. HSS configuration. Perfection. Fabulous! 🙂
  10. There were more than a few varieties. This, from 2005, was one of them. https://reverb.com/item/36148234-kramer-1984-reissue-2005-eddie-van-halen-5150-striped-electric-guitar-w-gig-bag
  11. Nile's guitar work on Let's Dance was phenomenal. And his transformation of a rough Bowie song idea on the title track, from a rough, barely-danceable sketch in the key of F, to a catchy, hook-filled dance track, was splendid. My band performed the song Let's Dance a few times live. ALWAYS a crowd-pleaser! 🙂
  12. Perhaps if you reach out to pianist John Colianni. He might remember who played bass with the Les Paul Trio prior to Nicki. email: johnnycchops@aol.com Guitarist Lou Pallo passed away last year. 😐
  13. I have been studying the specs on Fjestad's Blue Book. By all accounts, that looks to be a Gibson Les Paul Standard Bass 5-String, manufactured only in 1997 and 1998. MSRP back in the day was $2,630, and the Blue Book values it at $1,850 today. Reverb.com pricing is in that ballpark as well. No way to confirm previous ownership without some sort of communication between you and Les Paul's band-mates. I emailed Ms. Parrott, but not sure if her people will respond, sir. And she didn't technically join the Les Paul Trio until the year 2000, according to the interwebs. 😐
  14. I played thru a Gibson G-20 back in the day. Early-mid 1970's, at a friend's house. It sounded nice, but my experience level was too low to be of much objective value to me today, 45+ years later. 🤔
  15. rct is spot-on correct, as usual. I might add: I would just plug in with a longer cable and stand a lot further away from the amplifier. And slightly more off to the side. That's an enormously powerful amp and cabinet you are playing there, and you are quite close to it. Way too close to be up that loud. And I would wear some earplugs if I were you. 😐
  16. 17. Interesting how many versions of The Hitmaker strat he had in his arsenal. I wonder how much the original would go for? 😗
  18. Me: Heh! Sarge got himself a 00-28! Her: Double-ought 28? I have never heard of that caliber. Is it a rifle or a carbine? Me: It's a Martin. Her: Marlin? Me: No, it's a Martin. With six bridge pins and an Indian rosewood back and sides. Her: Eh, okay. I don't know what that means. As long as it shoots straight and never jams, I guess it's all good. Me: Oh, he's going to jam with it. Of that I have little doubt. Her: I'll never understand you gun guys. Me: I'll be sure to tell Sarge that you said, "Congratulations". Her: Whatever. 😀
  19. A lovely and timely message, jvi. I'm thankful for you today. 🙂
  20. I must say; That is the best soft case I have ever known. I loved it. When I sold the guitar, I really wanted to keep the soft case, but decorum and my up-bringing dictated that I let it go. 😑
  21. It's legit. It's real. 2018 Gibson Les Paul Faded in Worn Bourbon finish http://legacy.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/2018/USA/Les-Paul-Faded-2018.aspx I used to own one. Great guitar. It's very similar in appearance and features to the 2017 Les Paul Studio T Faded Brown that Rabs described earlier. Minus the mysterious 'T', I guess. It's real. It's legit. 😉
  22. If you buy a Gibson brand pickup, the color of the wiring will be identical, so that's the easy button, come time to solder it in. 😊
  23. You can order the Gibson Quick Connect harness from eBay or Reverb, and just splice it onto the bare wires of your new pickup. That's what I did last year, when I wired some Seymour Duncan pickups into my Les Paul. Just be sure to study the color-to-color wiring hookups if you don't go Gibson to Gibson. It's different if it's Seymour Duncan to Gibson, believe it or not. I studied this video when I installed mine. 🙂 And here, I did a screen capture of the critical diagram for you. 😉
