  1. Well there it is. Thank you, ksdaddy and jdgm. I was wracking my brain over this one. It seems like that all-aluminum construction wouldn't be very much fun at a chilly outdoor gig. 😐
  2. I found another photo. VERY unusual v-shaped headstock! Sort of. 🤔
  3. I have seen Jeff Lynne (of ELO and Traveling Wilburys fame) playing a lot of guitars over the years. Usually a goldtop Les Paul or a Telecaster. But this series of photos, taken in 1973 at a concert in Trafalgar Square, show him playing a chrome-body double cutaway Tele-shaped guitar, with dual humbuckers, maple fingerboard, and an overall Les Paul electronics configuration. I can't make out the shape of the headstock. I'm really curious, but can't find out any information. Have any of you seen such a thing before? 😐 🤫
  4. I reinstalled the old carburetor after the brand new carburetor wouldn't work. Can't have nothing. At least it still runs, and I rode it afterwards. 😑
  5. I believe that 2022 models will walk the runway wearing fab, mod gear. 😐
  6. I must confess that I love Godin, and I have even owned a 5th Avenue (a 2016 Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin P90), and it was lovely. It was gorgeous to look at. But to be honest, it felt and sounded thin to me. Insubstantial. My Ibanez, and my previous Ibanez AF's, all sounded much more rich and warm. I don't know if I'm saying that right. My current AF71 may just be my last one, and it's a keeper. And I played it back in the spring for my sister up in New Hampshire as she lay there dying of cancer, so it's got a lot of sentimental spirit in it. She's in it somehow, for me. And I'm definitely not saying that right. But it is what it is. 😐
  7. This is my current one. I love it dearly. 😗
  8. I have always been a fan of Ibanez. I would utter a heresy, and urge you to try out an Ibanez jazz box, but that would probably get me banned. 😬
  9. This thread has me inspired me to explore the two King Crimson albums previous to Three Of A Perfect Pair and Thrak. The ones featuring Robert Fripp, Bill Bruford, Tony Levin, and Adrian Belew, that is. I just ordered Beat and Discipline a few minutes ago. I want to find out how much of Robert and Tony's work with Peter Gabriel bled out into those albums. 😐
  10. Man. This one is nice. https://reverb.com/item/46364130-gibson-l6-s-1973-natural 🤩
  11. All my thoughts and prayers to Canadian and American Veterans, especially those struggling with disability, depression, and PTSD. I have studied it for just a few minutes, and just sharing this to set my left and right limits for understanding these holidays, and it appears that Canada's Remembrance Day is more closely aligned to the US's Memorial Day (and not necessarily Veteran's Day). Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for mourning the U.S. military personnel who have died while serving in the United States armed forces. Similarly, Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed in UK Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to honour armed forces members who have died in the line of duty. Canada is not part of the United Kingdom anymore, of course. Canada is an independent country and part of the North American continent. Canada was a dominion of the United Kingdom till December 1931. Wiki: "In Canada, Remembrance Day (Jour du Souvenir) is a statutory holiday in all three territories and in six of the ten provinces. Nova Scotia recognizes the day separately under their provincial Remembrance Day act; but Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec do not treat the day as an official holiday in any capacity." Okay, I'm gonna shut up now. 😐
  12. Epiphone PR350 acoustic electric in black finish, with a single cutaway. Made in April 1996 in Korea. Dreadnought style, spruce top, round sound hole, tortoise pickguard with stylized E, three-stripe bound body/rosette, mahogany back/sides/neck, 14/20-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl snowflake inlay, pearl crown/logo inlay, three-per-side chrome tuners. Worth $300 in really excellent Mint Condition. 🙂
  13. My favorite thing, ever. "Hello, uh, John? This is Pete, the guy selling the Telecaster. I'm on my way." "Me too, Pete. I should be there in about five minutes. Confirm we are talking about the parking lot of the Publix on north Wal Triana, and not the one down on HWY 72, right?" "That's right. The Publix across from the Texaco station and the Dollar General. I'm driving a maroon PT Cruiser." "I'm the old guy driving the small white serial killer van. See you there in a few." (dead silence) 😬
  14. Craigslist. Specify in the text of your ad: "Local sales only. Cash. In-person." I keep a small inverter, cable, and amp in the van for demos. *boom* Guitar sold. 😀
  15. I keep an electrical Inverter device that plugs into the cigarette lighter outlets in my van. When I go to buy or sell a guitar or amp, I come prepared for a full on demo. No problems with that, ever. 🙂
  16. I don't remember the band, but I really like that song. Thanks for sharing, and turning me onto this! 🙂
  17. I know it may sound strange, but this song contributed strongly to my development as a guitar player. The requirement to learn it inside and out some years ago, and to perform it at an old folks home for a group of ladies who had requested it, was daunting. A decidedly non-guitar-type song, and a difficult one for the average singer to sing; man oh man. But I delivered the goods, and in the process, something gelled in me as regards to the importance of the song, (over any particular technique or scale or riff) and what it will mean to bring each song to the audience. 🙂
  18. Great looking bass guitar, Tom. You may be in a lifelong quandary here. If Gibson Customer Service first insists it's a Tobias, and won't respond to any further queries, you may be left with a mystery with no solving. It's gorgeous. I can say that much. 🙂
  19. A few days ago I gave notice (well, long notice) to my bosses and teammates. 14 months until I quit work, and retire altogether. This'll be just after I get the house paid off. On 1 January 2023 I go on Social Security, and go to becoming a full time gardener and home repair tinkerer around the house. Sounds like heaven to me. 🙂
  20. Just three. 2017 Gibson Firebird Zero 2017 Gibson Les Paul Custom Studio 2011 Gibson Melody Maker SG I do own a 1986 Kramer Ferrington acoustic electric, but that was made in New Jersey a few years before Gibson bought the brand. 😉
  21. I check Reverb dot com for Grabbers all the time. Right now there's a red one (beat to $hit) for sale for $3,000 and a natural one that's merely dusty for $2,200. I like the natural one, a lot. https://reverb.com/item/46241911-gibson-grabber 🙂
  22. I think it looks fabulous just the way it is. Maybe a buffing off with some spray shine carnauba wax. It's vintage, but not relic'ed. Road-worn, but not artificially so. Love it. 🙂
