  1. Yes, it has the smaller headstock. Also, it has the crown in the lower position unlike the early originals and 2013 Original. And while the one in the video seems to be a single piece body, the ones I see on GC, Sweetwater, and Gibson's own site are 2 piece bodies, unlike my 2013 Originals single piece body. Still, I will say these Standard '61 Maestro Vibrola's are BEAUTIFUL!
  2. LOL, I keep telling myself that, but..... we know how that works ;)
  3. I seen this review at the other site. For the most part I thought it was well done and very informative. I will say I was bit surprised to see that hole for the ground wire under the Vibrola tail though. I don't believe the original Vibrola issued SGs came with a hole like that. Going to have to check my 2013 Original.

    NGD

Congratulations, nice LP. Happy NGD to you! :)
  5. I agree, but $500 down from last year is start :D (formally the SG HP)
  6. Well Gibson's latest SG releases are out. Gibson SG Standard '61 Maestro Vibrola Gibson SG Standard '61 Sideways Vibrola Gibson SG Modern Electric Guitar Blueberry Fade The Modern SG (an HP actually) has swapped out the Richlite for an EBONY fretboard at an even LOWER price, Amazing!! Unfortunately you can't have it all though, the Standard SG is still not worthy of a hardcase in Gibson's eyes! ...but I am still stoked that they used an Ebony fretboard instead of Richlite on the Mordern SG (a Revised HP)!
  7. Good idea... Sweetwater has the lefty SG HPs in stock right now, in both colors even! ;)
  8. Hi there! Welcome to the board! :)
  9. Howdy and Welcome aboard! :) Congrats on your new Gibson!
  10. Hey man, you posted great info. They are pretty "opinionated" around here. Even me on the Richlite, with all the pros AND cons, i'm pretty stubborn about it, lol I really enjoyed your take on the GForce tuners. Ignore the BS and stick around or at least stop in when you have free time.
  11. Wow, same here. SG Standards were closing out at GC for $1039.97. I received a gorgeous 2018 SG Standard Heritage Cherry with a late summer date of July-August of 2017 inspection card, and a serial of 180007XXX. Was delivered 2/28/2019.
  12. As far as the battery goes, it just pops in and out the back of the tuner with a "push/click" like a memory card does. After you pop the card out, it just plugs in the included charge cable. Pretty simple really. Batteries and Chargers (if needed) are readily available.
  13. Welcome aboard! :) Very interesting, Nice write up and pics, thanks! I don't mind the G-Force system, And unlike the Richlite fretboards, at least it's easily replaceable for the folks that don't like or want to use it. ;)
  14. Give it to me! ;) Like others have posted, it will fade away soon enough. You can try wiping it down with Gibson polish, and let the case air out for a couple days. Personally, I try to keep that smell as long as I can, lol :D
  15. I have all the others, but not that one. :( If Gibson would put out their new SG HP's with a Rosewood fretboard instead of Richlite, I would have one tomorrow!
  16. Totally your call... if what you've got is not working then go for it. ....or buy another Guitar! That's usually my plan of attack! ;)
  17. Not a deal breaker, but I would like and prefer them over acrylic/plastic inlays any day :D
  18. WOW, I'm sold... I realize they all fade, but that's too quick! And while I can appreciate a white or a cherry burst fading into something antique like, that blue just looks horrible to me. No offense to anyone or there guitars, just not my cup of tea. Dang, I was seriously thinking about that Blueberry too...
  19. Yikes!! Hope the Blueberry Burst doesn't do that over time.
  20. That's just insane! I have never understood the fascination with fake relics, road wear, or basically, "let me trash your guitar for you, and charge extra for it" models. I don't get it??
