AC30 is a killer amp. To me the most basic, bare bones amps tend to sound best; something without a master volume to start (although the AC30 has one). I am also knob averse so you can factor that into my comment. What kind of music do you play? Nice guitar. Make sure you play a lot of amps to find the right one to make that beauty sing.

Would this fall under a retail fraud violation? Might send the photo and serial number to Gibson customer support to get the skinny on this axe. I do agree with other posts - this looks like a Special to me because of the dot inlays. And because we love dirt here please let us know how the phone conversation goes.

RE: REM. I can dig what you are saying. The IRS years are amazing. So many killer songs. I do think their Warner Bros. years were great too (outside of Shiny Happy People and Stand. What were they thinking?). Monster rocks and you can see growth and exploration into new avenues through the Warner Bros. years. It didn't go completely South until Berry left.

I don't know anything about your amp, but I did find this CraigsList post - http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/msg/1849488780.html . Looks like a preamp to me. Does it have speaker outs in the back?

This is my style and has been for over a decade. 11s only! Not sure how some of you cats play those rubber band gauges. I'd be bending strings off the fretboard and breaking them like politicians break campaign promises. Gibson strings + Gibson guitar + Gibson pickups = tone nirvana
