dougg330
Since I first saw the pix of them, I've been GAS'ing for a 50th Anniversary 1962 Epiphone Sorrento. But I couldn't find a single YouTube video or magazine review to give me some word on them. Even tried the forum, but nobody had one yet. Playing a hunch, I called my local GC yesterday and asked if they were getting any Sorrentos. They had one. Just one. It came in the night before my call. So I went down there this AM to give the guitar the once-over. But I gave it more of a twenty-over. Couldn't stop playing it. Loved the minihumbuckers, loved the neck, loved the finish. It was nothing short of AWESOME. I had no choice but to buy it. And talk about fate: I had a 15% coupon in my email from GC - so my reasonable $699 purchase became $105 more reasonable. Raced home, cut the strings off, oiled the fretboard, lubed the nut, and strung it with Pyramid pure nickel 10's. Lowered the bridge, raised the neck PU, and now it's even MORE AWESOME. Once again, Epiphone has inspired my GAS - and cured it. I am a happy man.

midiman56
Wow ... that looks simply beautiful! BIG congrats to you!!! We haven't seen them yet at my GC, but Tuesday is a delivery day, so I have my fingers crossed. How are you finding the floating bridge on that guitar ... it's not pinned is it? I've been on sort of a Gretsch bender lately, so I've gotten used to it, but I know some players are a bit put off at first. Once again ... bravo. Enjoy that new guitar! Bluemans335
Nothing wrong with floating bridges, especially if they have a TOM like on a Sorrento. Looks classy.

dougg330
Don't love the floating bridge, Jim - but it sounds great. When I finally take it in for a real pro setup, my guy will scribe where the corners of the bridge go so I can always keep it aligned properly, and he'll shape the base a little to match the top better. But these are small things - really nothing to complain about. It even came with the truss rod tool, which doesn't come with Gibson Custom Shop models now! Wow ... that looks simply beautiful! BIG congrats to you!!! We haven't seen them yet at my GC, but Tuesday is a delivery day, so I have my fingers crossed. tonematter
Nice. I have one due here any day now in Royal Olive. How's the case and any accessories? Can you compare it to a standard Casino? I plan on changing the strings to flatwound 10s, but I'm wondering if you gave it a whirl with the stock roundwounds. Congrats.
