Guitars
About 10 years ago I bought this Epiphone E422T Century from a guitar shop in NYC (They told me it was 1965 although I don't know for sure) It seems to be one of those models that's not in the blue book (although I don't know for sure) Is there anything you can tell me about this guitar that could help me sell it? It sounds ok, but maybe not the greatest.. although perhaps I was trying to use it in a style of music it was not designed for (it sounds a little twangy to me) Serial Number is 353959 Thanks for any info David
brad1
I have no information about that guitar whatsoever. But I really like the looks of that guitar. I like the color, the TRC, and the single P90 in the neck. What a fine looking hollow-body you have there. Someone will probably come along soon and let you know. Thanks for posting pics. :)

That's all I know. Not much help I know :)
Supersonic
1965 seems about right. They had the decal headstock logo and white pickguard from '61-69. http://epiphonewiki.com/index.php/Century
crust
looks kind of like an ES-125T http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibson_ES-
russinator
Looks like it, but the Century has 25.5" scale and is only 1 7/8" thin (yes that's what the catalog sez!) ~~~ Bet the "T" in the model number means "thin". The ES-125 had a T (thin) version too.
Guitars
Thanks for all your assessments.. I forgot to include this image before.. So it seems pretty certain this is a E422T It just seems so twangy to me.. so I just wonder how desirable this guitar would be for someone? and it's potential market value? (Maybe it's just how I play it)
bluelake07
Elderly Instruments has a '67 for sale http://elderly.com/vintage/names/epiphone-e422t-century-%281967%29--40U-5300.htm
crust
$1295 for that one and your's looks (from what I could see from the pic you posted) less beat up.
clarkuss
What gauge strings have you got on it? Probably best used for Jazz/Blues with flateound strings. My Dad has a Gibson ES-225T and it is very twangy too and not very versatile but a lovely guitar all the same.

Also, this guitar is indeed a '65, and regardless of what an old catalog says, the scale length is going to be 24.75". Your Century is the clone to the Gibson ES-125T (I have a '66). Very nice guitars. The tone might not be your cup of tea, but others may find this guitar very appealing.
Guitars
Thanks for all the info! Maybe I have the wrong kind of strings on it.. Perhaps something like this would be good D'Addario ECG24 Chromes Flat Wound Electric Guitar Strings (.011-.050 Jazz Light) http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ECG24?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=PPC&utm_campaign=none&device=c&network=g&matchtype=&gclid=CO76ya6Vy7gCFVOe4AodtmEAjg
Supersonic
Wiki info is a bit off the mark. The bikini headstock lasted through '61. It was me that was off, not the wiki. It does indeed state that the headstock logo changed in '62.
russinator
Also, this guitar is indeed a '65, and regardless of what an old catalog says, the scale length is going to be 24.75". Yes, documentation and real life are often not the same. Measuring the pictures and comparing seems to indicate 24.75. I found another Epi catalog that says it's 25.5 " also and it puts the picture/listing between a Granada and Sorento in that one. That catalog is White and smaller than the other which is blue and bigger. Both are from sometime in the '60's but I don't know the exact years. The price in the white catalog BTW was $172.50. It also lists an E422T3/4.
Guitars
I was confused what scale length is but I found this article which explains everything http://www.stewmac.com/freeinfo/Fretting/a-scalelength.html I measured between the nut and the 12th fret and it was 12.75 So I guess the scale length is 25.

'Scales
I'd echo exactly what Brad1 said - what a sweet looking guitar! I've never owned a hollow-body, but if I did - one exactly like that would do very nicely. Hope you enjoy it.
bobouz
I measured between the nut and the 12th fret and it was 12.75 So I guess the scale length is 25.5 Well, that would be quite a surprise to me, as the ES-125T is 24.75", and the Century appears to be it's dead ringer clone (other than the pickguard & headstock). Of course, anything is possible with Gibson!
