from 62 to 66 The American Folk Blues Festival toured through Europe, many of the artist were forgotten American blues artist who could barely make a living playing in the U.S. These tours were instrumental in giving the Blues a rebirth in America, and sparked the Blues influenced English Rock that we all came to love. Those in attendance included the who's who of rock, Clapton, Jagger, Bruce, Richards, Bruce, Page and many more..

jaxon50,

I bought this entire set on DVD a few years back.

Truly, an exceptional post.

It is a trip back in time.

BEAUTIFUL!!

Yeah I've got a couple of these on DVDs...to me it is still riveting, even though some of the 'down-home' sets are almost embarrassing....

Sonny Boy Williamson, Matt Murphy, Willie Dixon, T-Bone Walker backing Shakey Jake - who could tell your birthdate by looking at you.....Howling Wolf getting irritated with (very drunk) Son House in the audience....and Otis Rush whose performances alone are worth the price of admission.....I eventually saw Otis in the 80s....it was well worth the wait........

This is the stuff [thumbup] [thumbup]

John Lee Hooker Rules!! I was raised listening to Zep, Aerosmith, Queen, and Kiss. As I get older, I sure love myself some Blues!!. When I listen to Sirius XM, B.B. Kings Bulesville is my main station. Funny how our taste change. I can't find enough Yardbirds, especially the old Clapton stuff.

As a side note, I am learning that a lot of the Zep songs I grew up on in the 70s were old blues tunes... that is a discussion for another thread. [tongue]
