Originally, I thought this Thread was pertaining to Electric Power usage for Alternate Energy devices like E Vehicles etc.. I made a comment about Calif. telling Customers to reduce usage… I had never heard of a CPAP.. My point was about reduced usage & the potential & caution re; blackouts…. Anyhoo…

The OP made a snide remark about a sale at his local Grocery Store on Bananas? Huh???

Have a great day!

A CPAP Machine is a machine you use when you have sleep apnea. My wife has one. Its like sleeping with Darth Vadar when she uses it.

How much do those full-house generators cost, roughly.

"I've had mine for a few years.....but a friend just put one in....think it was just over $17K." (DanvillRob)

In My Humble Opinion - Not many people can afford this.  Or have the physical, technical expertise to deal with it.  Gasoline goes stale, etc.   5 gallon can get  pretty heavy.

I think the OP's  question on how to backup critical medical equipment was extremely timely - and may have touched on some  of the same concerns and broader ones  we here in the US have -  sparking this 'lively' discussion.  But we don't discuss politics here.

It can depend.  I have a Generac that cost me 8K.   And that's after the $800 discount I got for opting for the one that won't power the A/C as well.  I figured since I've dealt without A/C for 40 or so years before ever getting it I could deal with not having it for the maybe week or two the power is out.  As long as the fridge and lights are working I'm fine.   And I'm told that if power goes out in the winter the furnace will run regardless of the central A/C not running since the furnace doesn't use near as much of the juice the A/C does.
