Rams
Hello I was wondering does this J-200 look like a fake? The truss rod cover looks like it has three screws instead of two. E-Bay link if so this makes me sick how can people do something like this. Thanks
jannusguy
i'm thinking it's legit. gibson did some TRC's with 3 screws back in the day.
ksdaddy
Total fake on many levels. I think this may be the same one that was sold on ebay a couple months ago from Quebec. Or a twin. edit: No headstock binding, putrid fake label, upper bout curve too square, mahogany(?) back, wrong heel shape.

Rams
Is there a way to alert the bidders that this may be a fake? If you ask the seller a question about the three screws does it automatically show up under the listing or can the seller prevent it from showing up? **** I went ahead and asked if they had a close up of the headstock because it looked like it had three screws instead of the usual Gibson two. ****
Fred_Engr
Ramseyr Unfortunately, there is no way to alert bidders that I know of. The only way to obtain action against fakes is to send an email to eBay Community watch or go on live chat with a representative. Some members in past have done both and been successful with having fake Gibson guitars removed. Good luck
cradlehall
Don't touch this with a barge pole. The seller is brand new to eBay who hasn't sold or bought anything on eBay before. In addition, there's a total lack of description for the guitar.
ponty
I agree entirely. This has SCAM all over it!
dublingibson
Gibson have now been added to ebay's vero programme ( and about time ) which means that they have now told ebay to close any auctions with suspect gibson guitars :-

kyle742
Thanks for this great post buddy! I think we all have to be very aware of the fakers on ebay or anywhere in the world. You guys have good eyes for the legitimate and fakes ones huh.. I guess I have to be also so I wouldn't be easily fooled by existing scams. Do not fake gibson guitars please.. i just love 'em! J185-4Me
Yikes!! $1575. for a fake J-200. Fortunately, there's another one on ebay.... Fred
Mark Lee
Recently there was a purportedly 1949 Epiphone Emperor on ebay that was obviously fake. The maker was even stupid enough to use the current logo on the headstock, instead of the script logo.
Randy Bo-Bandy
Here's another one - it can't be right?: http://cgi.ebay.com/Gibson-J-50-Guitar_W0QQitemZ180426384663QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item2a02402517 Dig the way the seller has obscured the truss rod cover to hide the three screws! ksdaddy
Gawd, look at the top of the headstock..... I've got a couple old Hondas here, suppose I could spell out Harley Davidson with mailbox letters on the gas tank and slap it on ebay for $10,000?
