geelinus
Has everyone seen this new Gibby in the new Musicians Friend Christmas catalog?
larryp58
Nice looking guitar! I wonder what the back and sides are made of? Bubinga? Rosewood? Mahogany?
wonderful remark
I remember a video where Keb Mo plays a epiphone bluesmaster. not gibson..
zombywoof
Now you too can be a master of pop blues! Agree with es-335. Seems to me he played a now discontinued Epi Bluesmaster (which is a really nice guitar). So is Gibson reproducing an Epiphone that is a copy of a Gibson? cedartops
That is a cool lookin guitar but it doesn't look like the epi bluesmaster/// i better add this.......... the VS is cool lookin but the natural that Keb is holdin is pretty plain. Rambler
I can see the point of a sig guitar when a particular instrument has been a players bread and butter for years (espec. out of production models). Neither applies in this instance. Plus Keb sleeps around (Martin sig, Nationals). Better, an L-00 tv (you can call it the Steve James. or the Lotte Mullan) A Nick Lucas Special in RW (call it the Bob Dylan)? or a Banner j45 in maple (call it the Russ Barrenberg). Now, those would make sense (but then they dont ship platinum).
geelinus
Keb Mo did an instructional video with an Epiphone and has a signature Martin and now a signature Gibson. I sat two rows back when I saw him, and he played a Yamaha and a Taylor - No Epi, no Gibby, no Martin. . .

A signature guitar, yes? Do you know how long Les Paul relied on his, "bread and butter" guitar before Gibson thought it might be clever to release it as a signature guitar. Is the comment I made going to be perceived as "flaming" my fellow forum memember? It's not my intent but frankly your comment puzzles the hell out of me. eltonwce
It may be that Keb requested Gibson make a guitar to the specs of this new model. I'm sure Gibson needed his approval to put his name on it.
Rambler
Point taken re the Les Paul, CT. Although when Gibson rolled out the LP, Les already had a rep for messing with solid bodies as well as being a player/pop star, so there was some sense to that. Where does Keb fit in? I just happen to think the sig model marketing trend is a little over the top and that maybe it would make more sense, say, to fill in the gaps in the historic series. But then, I dont have to move the units.

On a happier note. I do like the Eric Johnson Strat. A quarter sawn maple neck!!! What other guitar uses a quarter sawn maple neck?
aymeric22
Not in Musician Friend any more, but still shown in Guitar center : http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gibson-Keb--Mo--Bluesmaster-Acoustic-Electric-Guitar-423013-i1478736.gc By the way in this link, more details about this nice guitar...would love to hear or try it. Only 300 made.... but Gibson should do a regular parlor model (less expensive) !
