Acutal to tell you the truth.

When i was 9 my first band ever was underoath.

This was before they got all bullshit mainstream.

I was young, blind and stupid.

Just like today but i know whats fake and whats good now.

I'm Christian but IMO most of those bands suck. Underoath is one of the worst.

The only problem I have with As I lay Dying is for some reason they cannot capture what they do live on tape. They actually sound awesome live. So much better than the recordings. Here is what I feel is good Christian metal. Sacrificum is from Germany. Here's a live clip from Norway of all places.

I've heard some savage riffing from some christian metal bands.

What I hate are all these stupid band names nu-metal has.

Similar in construct to: I Run Fast To My House

They should call themselves something honest like "I'm Angsty and Loud But Still A Whiny Pu$$y"

but lets be

honest, you dont need to be very musically gifted to play it...

Anyone can dime a gain knob.

I'm 41, Anyone can bend a string over and over again while moaning some sad sack crap and call it blues too, I guess by that analogy.

The blues is tone, touch and technique, a good man feeling bad.

Metal?....I used to play it, then I grew up. Been there, done that...got the t-shirt.

Metal is much easier to play because all that gain hides your mistakes.

Hey, I like some good Metal......Judas Priest, Old Ozzy, Helix yadda, yadda.

So my opinion is based on experience.

I've been playing metal all my life. Also other kinds of music.

Most good metal bands don't bury their guitar in gain, it's a cleaner boost so you have drive but can hear everything that's being played. (Not saying that there aren't crappy players that do, but there are crappy players in all genres of music)

Some of the best musicians of each instrument play metal due to the challange and speed.

That's been my experience.

It also depends on what type of metal you're speaking of as to the common aptitude of musicianship required.

Blues, I like Blues too but I've heard some guys with "tone" that sounds like a fart in a shoe box and people rave about how briliant it is.

What a master of the volume knob they are, but it still sounds like an 8 year old making noise.

Whatever...to each their own. [-(

Just becuase your experienced doesnt mean your right.

I dont belive in that "gain hide your mistakes" bullshit anymore.

Its 2010, we have amps that can get 10x gain then a marshall and show your mistakes more then a clean tone amp.

I belive that Metal is one of the hardest genres in the world.

Why, becuase it takes time and perservnces.

Metal has soul just as much as blues.

I can show you millions of songs that have soul and sound.

Now your talking about techinque?

Devil fingers?

Finger eight?

I bet you havent heard of these picking techniques beucase their so ****ing impossible.

Devil fingers is where you train your middle finger, ring finger and your pinky to be as fast as when your picking.

Please tell me that isnt hard, tell me that doesnt take time and years of practice.

Sure theirs tons of bands out there that just use power chords and use gain to hide their mistakes.

If you saw some of the things metal guitarist have to do for one hour at a concert you will be suprised their fingers havent fallen off.

Excuse my typos. [-(
