jgwoods
Yep, mine looks the same, maybe more stripe in the Madagascar fingerboard. Wonderful guitar, rare too, and comfortable to play for a big guitar.

J185-4Me
The J-185 is, of course, one of the most perfect guitars ever created.... Fred
Dotneck
I got a 185 today as well....its a '05 rosewood. Liking it so far! Its interesting how different it sounds from my AJ even though they are both rosewood/sitka. I like yours too....love the burst...mine is natural. jgwoods
exactly! i don't know about the rarity but ' date=' man, it is so comfortable. just great. i feel lucky! cheers [/quote'] The original 50s run of J-185s was quite small- 500 or so I think, and there were no more until recently. I am pretty sure Gibson doesn't make that many of the modern ones compared to the J-45 and a few other models. I'm pretty sure they will hold their value very well. Mine is a keeper, but you never know- money for guitars isn't spent, it's parked.

Rambler
Hey, Rob, how's that J185 working out now that you've had it for a spell? When do you reach for it, instead of your slopes? A compare and contrast report, perhaps a video (we dont ask too much, no? Oh yes )? Cheers, J
KL
That's a great guitar. I'd rather have that than a J-200 any day.

jannusguy2
I have not touched the J185 or any other of my guitars since the arrival of my 12 fret southern jumbo. if it's possible for a guitar to be "the one", i believe i have found it in this SJ. uh-oh.
