Rocky4
I have this plug coming out of a wall in my great room. It looks like the male end of an auto FM connector. Do home systems use this type of antenna connection? What else could it be?

Riverside
Acutual, it looks like the connector in a car stereo for the antenna...
Artie Owl
I think you might be right, it looks like the conector to an antenna that they don't use anymore, I think really old VCRs and TVs had an input jack for that. Just going with my gut on this one.

FirstMeasure
I'd guess there used to be a CB Base Unit in that room, probably back in the late 70's through mid 80's since that was the height of the CB Craze.

Where's the stripper pole ? Does look like an old antenna line. A lot of older houses have a antenna in the attic.
L5Larry
That's a standard Motorola antenna connector. They were used for everything antenna, radio, TV, CB, early cable systems, closed circuit TV, etc. You probably have, or had a rooftop antenna on your roof, or in your attic. milod
Yup... As Larry noted, there were all kinds of uncletennas used with that type of connector. Oh - yeah, I'm just being an mcp with the uncle-tenna, stedda an aunt-tenna. m
Jantha
DON'T shake it... nothing sucks worse than a burg jerky in your great room.
TommyK
It is a car radio, AM/FM not CB, antenna plug grafted onto a TV cable. Why they did that is beyond me, unless someone re-purposed the Blaupunkt they removed from their AMC Pacer, for use in their great room. Cut it off with a side nippers and re-install a proper F connector for your cable TV.
