FennRx
sorry, missed the location. dont worry about it. people get way too hung up on the neck size of the USA models.
kubog
I have LP Special with 60s neck and Custom with 50s and there isn´t much big difference at all. 50s is a bit thicker but IMO it ain´t baseball bat, it´s very comfortable.

kubog
Ok here are promised pohots, I placed my thumb right next to it so you can make opinion about it. I took pictures by 1st fret, 12th fret, and both guitars together next to each other. 50s : 1st fret http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/5689/dsc01642yn7.jpg 12th fret http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/3883/dsc01643lu7.jpg 60s : 1st fret http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/8972/dsc01644xh1.jpg 12th fret http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/7353/dsc01645lm8.jpg Both (kinda sloopy beacuse each neck is from slightly different angle) : 1st fret http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/1505/dsc01646cd0.jpg 12th fret http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/2655/dsc01647gm9.jpg Greets
Geetar_Axl
Thanks for them, Im sure the 60s neck Std. Faded I played didnt have a neck as thin as the Special you have.
kubog
Yes it looks each model has little different neck beacause I had 98 Standard which was 50s neck and It was much thicker than 50s on my Custom right now
matiac
I dunno boys, I see a definate difference between the two, jeez, the '60's almost looks like an Ibanez neck next to the baseball bat-like '50's. Mine's got a great big 'ol neck like that '50's job.
FennRx
Yes it looks each model has little different neck beacause I had 98 Standard which was 50s neck and It was much thicker than 50s on my Custom right now Customs and Custom Shop necks are different... this has been talked about a lot, but here's the executive summary: in order of decreasing thickness, here are the necks: R2-8>R9>R0>Custom>USA 50s>USA 60s> LP Classic there can be some variation and if i'm mistaken, someone chime in...but i think thats close. and for the record, if anyone turns down a "the one" guitar because it is a 50s neck and not a 60s, that person is an idiot. FennRx
there is a difference between my Historic and my Standard (50s). the difference between my Standard and my Classic in terms of play ability and feel is negligible. People worry waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much about the 50s and 60s neck. if you can play one, you can play the other. if you turn down a great guitar because it has the "wrong" neck size, you're an idiot. Geetar_Axl
Oh Im not turning it down, Im just worried it will be as thin as my Epiphone Les Paul Juniors neck....which is paper thin.
daveinspain
Kubog... That's a guitar players thumb if I ever saw one bet you can almost bar the whole neck with that sucker...
kubog
I am sorry I think I didn´t get it what did you mean by that
Geetar_Axl
Someone back me up here!? Its not gonna be flimsy (crappy and really, REALLY thin) like a Epiphone lower end models neck right?!
Tom99SS
You really have to play them to see which one feels right in your hands. I played many 50's and 60's neck Les Pauls when I was picking out the one I wanted. The 50's neck just felt better to me. There is a difference at least to me there was. Tim Plains
I own a 50s neck Standard. I find there's a huge difference between 50s & 60s necks. I prefer the 50s & fatter necks, personally. My 335 has a slim taper neck and it takes me a few minutes to adjust to it.
FennRx
a huge difference? come on. you guys act like you playing them is night day. maybe the 50s is too big if you have hands like an infant. haha, now i'm being cranky. get a Historic and then you can ***** about the neck. Thundergod
i like guitar necjs as fat and chunky as they can get... i find those slim taper necks a little unconfortable... and of course, have you tried those Ibanez wizard necks? i couldnt play a note on those... and they are supposed to be that way to make shredding easy... i am more confortable shredding on a chunky 50s neck... GuitarGuy503
Hey guys' date=' I need a pic of like the side on view of a neck just to get an idea of how thick the neck is. How much difference is there between 50's and 60's? Thanks![/quote'] It really depends. All necks very quite a bit in size. Some 50's necks are very chucky and thick, some 50's necks feel more like a 60's neck, and others that are somewhere in between a 50's and 60's neck. With that being said I don't believe there is enough difference for you to be able to distinguish a necks size based on a photo. Some people have a hard enough time making the judgment even when they've already played the guitar. For example I had my LP Standard ( w 50's neck) setup a few years ago and guitar tech swore it had a 60's neck.
Geetar_Axl
Just played a 50's and 60's neck for an hour and a half. There is really not much difference, one has a nice grip at the 12th Fret (50's) and the extra roundness in the 50's just adds cushioning to your palm. Im happy! deepblue
Its true...Its a trade-off. I find the 60's neck great for fast runs, but my hands and fingers tire quicker. The fatter necks take a bit to get used too, but I have more playing stamina and less hand cramping. I do prefer the 60's slim.
