Some one's gotta have a good opinion

I don't usually respond to posts like this because, in all actuallity, its just another Epi VS. Gibson thread. You dont have to try to justify why you own a Epi. This is the Epi forum and everyone here owns or has owned Epis.

I currently dont own a Epi; I have 3 Gibsons, but 2 of the best playing and sounding guitars that I have owned were a Chinese built L.P. Standard and an Elitist L.P. I still kick myself for getting rid of them. Sure, I love my Gibsons and they were more expensive but if I do own another Epi, and I probably will, I will not feel the need to explain to anyone why I own it.

Ron...we do it so Jeffrey and Charlie have something vaguely resembling a life...if they weren't here where would they be? and what mischief might they be perpetrating? They've got about fifty six thousand posts between them and if they weren't here posting where might they be?...Give the kids at Harmony Central a break and just go along with everything...for their sake. Think of the children!

The preceding was an attempt at humour and not intended as malicious or insulting...OK...maybe a little...but in fun.

No animals were harmed in the making of this post.

All models are over eighteen. Proof on file.

This has been a DesiLu production.

Nelson

It beats reading the newspaper. And where else would one find so many people devoted to an underdog like Epiphone?

Here's one example of a Silvertone...you think I'm fooling? I'm not. They can sound great.

.

yeh but is that a real silvertone....

they changed ownership a lot, too.

the bottom line remains the same here..

blindfolded, through the same amp, same player, same tune..

you know.. that problematical to the snob idea.. 'all things being equal'..?

even pros would have a hard time choosing gib over epi as the better tone.

that holds true for playability, as well.

and nobody has ever beaten my argument..

straight from the factory.. a 2400.00 les paul cannot stand up to

a sheraton AND an Black Beauty AND an SG AND a Casino AND a V.

swap a couple of parts with the cash left over and frankly, it would be an unfair competition entirely.

so why on earth would anyone try to claim gibson superiority except as to collectibility and bragging rights?

they wouldn't.

they'd say.. 'well. I have a gibby I love and it was worth it to me'. And I'd say, congrats! I love your guitar.

OK Mattt1092..... I got so confused over which was which first time around whilst watching, I got a friend to cut the audio into short pieces of each guitar and label them randomly so only he knew which was Epi, which was Gibson. I then played through the pairs to score them as good-tone or bad-tone. Couldn't do it.

It may be the recording technique or whatever, but they all sounded about equal. And not very nice too.

Your call in the OP was spot on.

I am biased however (see other recent posts.....), and where were you, TWANG, when I needed you?
