EpiSheriMan Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Has anyone seen one of these before? Looks suspiciously like a normal MIK with gold truss cover, an extra blue f-hole label with a phony JLH signature.... The guy wants € 3,300 for it!!!! :D
gilbert_cfc Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 i thought hookers had a freq. on it not a stop bar tail peice
Bluesbrekr1281734000 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 i thought hookers had a freq. on it not a stop bar tail peice The original ones had the frequensator, newer ones have the stop bar. IIRC.
lostindesert Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 This one could be USA made like the John Lennon Casinos. The ''Hooker'' came in two versions, the ''John Lee Hooker 1964 Sheraton'' with frequensator tailpiece and the ''John Lee Hooker 1964 Sheraton II'' with stopbar. They are from the Epiphone USA collection limited edition USA Sheratons. Peter

It's that crappy MIK bridge,...the USA assembled JLH's all have ABR-1's and Grover Machine heads. It must be an MIK JLH version? Charlie Brown, can you shed some light on this for us?
lostindesert Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 EpiSheriMan you're right, after looking at the pics a little bit longer it looks like a MIK. Some 50th anniversary model? with normal humbuckers and a MIK bridge. The USA versions came with minibuckers btw. Peter
charlie brown Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I think, it's a Samick made version, that was out in the late '90's... Can't tell for sure, if the serial number begins with an "S" or a "5?" Sure looks like a Korean version, to me... The later "Assembled in USA" verions (one of which I'm the proud owner of) are modeled on the original "Kalamazoo" versions, with mini-humbuckers, Frequnsator (or Stop bar, on the II), and the original body shape and headstock shape, as well. This one, pictured, looks like a pretty stock Korean version, with some JLH "bling" added. Makes me wonder too, if it was a Mars Music Exclusive, like MF has, on occasion? Probably not, but you never know... Maybe Nelson knows more, about this particular incarnation? Nelson, "where you at?!" ;>) CB
Svet Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 The USA made JLH models did indeed have Minis. Below are images of the two JLH iterations:
