Andrew
as i posted a while ago I couldn't see a difference between the E and A string on my new j45RW...It was really bugging me so i took it in, the guy checked them with calipers and sure enough..the A string was another E string! i was worried that the fatter string might cut into the A nut slot...i think if i had let it go for much longer it would have. also my guitar is definitely buzzing along the big E string...I can play so it lessens it but it's there. Also when I look inside the back of the guitar..beside the block of wood where the jack is there's those strips of "traintrack" wood along the edge...on mine, the last little "traintrack" before the block is crooked. not a big deal but still...between all that plus a few little white dots on the inside which i guess are glue splashes...im really not impressed with gibson's quality. having said all that I love my guitar...but man for this money there should be zero concerns. i'm bringing it back in too see what the dealer says about all this. question: if my new guitar buzzes and they cant fix it..is that covered under the warrenty? PetPeeves
Your dealer should provide you with a setup and that'll most likely take care of the buzzing issue. I doubt you'll have to go so far as to make a Gibson warranty claim. Enjoy your new guitar!!
nodehopper
Definitely take it back to the dealer you purchased it from. It is hard to say who should take blame for the strings as the dealer could have had a shop person put news strings on it during its time it was on display for sale. Regardless of who messed up...the dealer should have taken some time when you purchased it to set it up to your playing style and sent you home with a guitar that is set up correctly for you and had a brand new set of strings on it when it went out the door with you. I feel like you should be more upset with the dealer than necessarily at Gibson in all likelihood. My CJ-165 has a small quarter sized puddle of glue in the bottom of the lower bout. It was wiped up, but still can be seen. Hmmmmm....I don't know...I guess it is nice to brag that construction is perfectly clean, but I love the damn guitar so like myself and my Wife..... nothing is perfect and slight irregularities just add to personality. Those are my thoughts for what it is worth.

Mind you if the dealer has sent £1500 worth of box out without noticing the strings are incorrect I don't think I'd have much faith in their "set-up" But you are right PP, Andrew must take it back and insist they recify it In the UK it probably offends the "Sale of goods Act" on the grounds it is not "fit for purpose" In the 'States there must be something similar. Good luck John

[/quote'] the guitar came right out of the factory box. so the dealer never really touched it. this was a gibson oversight (though i suppose they should have caught it too). yeah i hear ya..the small imperfections i can ignore...no doubt i'll bash up over the years. i'll be happy when the buzz is gone. ajsc
I feel your pain!! My AJ had some white dots too. They came off with a cleaning cloth. Hope that's all you need for that, but I agree with everyone else about having the dealer make it right for you.

Her head was balding and her breasts had gone south. It was enough to cause a grown man to shed tears. The small imperfections I can ignore, no doubt I'll bash up over the years. jefleppard
hey, fellow commonwealthers.... when the buzz is gone (lyrics by JT, andrew and cunkhead) it seemed we like each other’s faces so what was the point of paying rent on two places but I’m always jumping the gun and I won’t be happy when the buzz is gone well I don’t know what got in my head but there a life to live outside of the bed there’s more to it than five minutes of fun what ‘cha gonna do when the buzz is gone I’m not crazy 'bout admitting defeat but there is some sh** that I cannot eat small imperfections I can ignore of course I mean just mine, not yours…. I’m not used to this side of the door but I’d rather be mistreated than ignored now I’m singing the same song and I’ll be happy when the buzz is gone well I’ve fooled myself again distracted by love of the game it was fun - whatever it was but too much of it will kill the buzz I’m not blaming it all on you lord knows I’ve got my hangups, too you can only kid yourself for so long won’t I be glad when the buzz is gone and despite all my fears and the bashing up we’ve done over the years I feel like the last man standing – even if I’ve won will I be happy when the buzz is gone i have music, too. i'm on vacation and i'll finish it today or tomorrow. Rick Garrett
My Gibson CJ165 Rosewood has a wee bit of finish flaw at the top on the back. it either didn't get shot with laquer or didn't get buffed out on that spot. Doesn't bother me though. I think of it as MOJO or character. The tone more than makes up for it's slight imperfections. Good luck with your guitar.
