Robert Cray, hands down. Even before I listened to the clips because I know Roberts Blues are the most Original and Heartfelt Blues in the business. His tone is Clean and Unique, and his leads are not contrived.

Gary is technically efficient, and his playing is hot. But there's very little unique or original about his blues, and his tone boarders on Muddy.

Now if you throw Voices into the equation, Gary doesn't even make it out of the primaries.

Protest vote for Otis Rush. [thumbup]

In all seriousness, though--I listened to both of them the whole way through. I've never been a huge fan of either one, but I've followed them both here and there, and I do like both of them to an extent. However: I would like to point out that Robert Cray has one of the most captivating voices in the entire Blues scene, and his playing is tasteful and subtly expressive in ways that could give the masters cold sweats. Gary did his thing with it, which isn't bad, but I have to admit that I got bored with it half way through.

Robert Cray gets my vote this time around.

Here's an interesting version by Robert Plant. I found it on Youtube while looking for this version......

I'm partial to the SRV version, it's live and raw from when he was young and unsigned. Before Tommy Shannon replaced Jack Newhouse on the bass.
