zkinard
hey everyone, I just purchased a new Dot and am wondering if anyone has a preference for the type of amp cord to use, brand, style, etc.? Should I be using a cord the has a right angle end piece that plugs into to the guitar? will this matter? Thanks, Zach
Whitmore Willy
Zach, Welcome to the forum! Congrats on the new guitar. Seems to me a good quality right angle cord might just help to avoid any unwanted "accidents". Something with a rubber coated covering to avoid scratches. Set of strap locks isn't a bad idea either. blues335
The best 90degree cable you can afford. best to have a 90degree jack on a 335 in my opinion. Looks tidier, miles safer. I actually prefer coiled cables long but will not go into the reasons at this point in time.....basically the best you can afford.....your cable is one of your most important pieces of kit......some people pay bundles for a nice guitar and more to mod the guitar, get a decent amp then play through a crap cable.........all links in the chain.....and if the weakest link is your cable......then you need to sit down and have a strong cup of coffee and wonder what you are trying to achieve.......no cheap leads.....Capisce
BillyGibson
I use a Monster cable - right angle on one end straight on the other. Right angle plugs into my Casino and straight goes into the amp. Works well on my Les Paul too.
crust
Wasn't a chord supplied with the guitar ? Every one of my recently obtained Epiphones have come with one. They are kind of flimsy and cheap (not heavy duty). I use these Whirlwind Leader http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&expIds=25657,27758&sugexp=ldymls&xhr=t&q=whirlwind+leader&cp=11&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=4608021150606933045&ei=vn_xTJToGZP0tgOfzfGmCw&sa=X&oi= and Live Wire Advantage http://www.livewire-usa.com/products/products.cfm?sBrand=adv and Hot Wires cables http://www.onstagestands.com/content/node/33 get a 90 degree jack plug for the "guitar" plug. It wont rip out the jack socket of your guitar if the chord gets accidently pulled on a little.

cjlandry
I'm really fond of DiMarzio instrument cable with the braided nylon outer covering. I also have some Monster cables that work very well, but the DiMarzio cables are less bulky and make it easier for me to move around. They cost about the same as Monster cables. A 21 foot cable is $27 at Musician's Friend right now.
