adamjs69 Posted January 19, 2011 Share Posted January 19, 2011 After lusting after a Gibson acoustic for most of my adult life, I've recently started looking/shopping for a "new" Southern Jumbo. I've had a chance to play the newer ones on road trips in the past but unfortunately there's not a dealer within 3 hours of me that carries them. I've done the internet search thing, looked at thousands of images, checked dozens of retailer's websites and am confused by one small detail... WHAT COLOR IS THE PICKGUARD ON THE NEW SJ's? Every one that I've seen is a dark tortoise, but all of the descriptions (musicians friend, etc.) describe the PG something like: "the black pickguard matches the black headstock veneer..." (or something like that). Even the pictures that accompany this description show a dark tortoise pg, not black!... I'm so confused. Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks. At the top it does say black pickguard, then in the specs list it says tortoiseshell. For the record, it is tortoiseshell. At the top it does say black pickguard, then in the specs list it says tortoiseshell. For the record, it is tortoiseshell.
