swleary
A good bass setup should run you between $50-100. I wouldn't go on price though. If you trust the person and they listen to how you like it setup then price shouldn't matter ....
daveinspain
I do it myself too... No big mistery there to do a good set up... I bought an All Parts set up kit, comes with instructions.
DanvillRob
My P-Bass cost me $100, I bought a Black tolex case for it for $60, (bought both back in the early 80's). Bassman amp cost $200 on ebay.
RobinTheHood
I do mine myself as well. Adjust the truss, adjust the bridge, clean up the fretboard and make sure all moving parts like saddle screws and tuners work properly. Easy peasy. I used to take my basses in for setups, but they never came back the way I wanted them. Everybody has different preferences, so unless you have a tech that knows what you like, its good to learn to do it yourself.

Lungimsam
By reset do you mean they took out the Trod and heated the neck and clamped it straight and then reinserted Trod to get the neck straight?
ChanMan
Free. It was the add-on service plan when I bought it at Sam Ash. Free restring and set up once a quarter for 2 years. I buy the strings and take it to their on-site luthier.

rocketman
So why is a bass setup more than a guitar setup? I never paid more than $40 for my guitars.
