damian
i think i'd be like that if i had is ability I prefer your humbleness as it is now Steve.......Cool, calm, and collected........ With a small humble collection of guitars, and a gentle non arrogant guitar touch that soothes the soul.....
Duende
My wife loves all the virtuoso rockers like Malmsteen, Vai, Satch etc...I even have a Peavey JSX Satch head thanks to my wife's love of Joe, so I cannot complain; as I love it Re Vai, I actually fell alseep at a Vai concert much to my wife's aghast LOL. The last thing I remember was him flouncing around the stage with these silly lasers firing from his head (he had this weird sci fi-esque hat was all I remembered). The concert before we saw Vai I was wide awake! Vai, while talking to the London audience; trying to emulate the regional accent, he suddenly called out "I'm a wannnnker...I'm a wannnnker" in his best 'mockney'. The phonetic of it obviously amused him. It also though amused quite a few people in the audience who couldn't believe their idol was yelling this proclamation, especially as a lot of his British critics would say just that! I just cracked up for ages!!! It was one of the funniest moment sever at a live concert i think I will ever see. Matt

S t e v e
Granted Malmsteen is incredibly fast but to me,that's all he is.I find his playing too precise and technical and complteely lacking in feeling or emotion.I saw an interview with him once where the interviewer asked him if he could in fact play blues,he answered by picking up a Strat and playing a blindingly fast few licks in the pentatonic scale, and that was his rendition of the blues-completely devoid of any emotion.Give me Steve Vai any day,his playing in the above video is stellar both in performance and emotion. like this you mean? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzW8fi8z5C8
