RUSHian
I just ordered a White Epi ES 345 with the Bixby- I've never used a Bixby- anyone give me their experiences?
RaSTuS
Bigsby's are very stable, what I usually do is put a roller bridge and a Tusq nut on and they'll hold tune extremely well. I'd recommend a Wilkinson roller bridge, they cost $20 - $30 and are very solid units. Wilkinson Roller Bridge EDIT: Congrats on the 345 too, they are marvelous guitars, I have an off brand copy, it's sooo cool.

I was interested in the EPi ES 355, but it didn't have the Varitone (I'm a big Alex Lifeson fan) , but the 345 has it and Stereo jacks. I have to wait til November to get it (it's on back order) Any thoughts on the Varitone- never tried one either.
RUSHian
Cool when will you get it ? Varitones are a nice feature to 'thin out' the tone, the higher the # the more 'bass-less' I'm getting it Mid November- ( the initial run was sold out) Will the Varitone give me a single coil (Strat )sound ? LSAR
Congrats! Sucks that you have to wait that long, I just ordered a geet a half hour ago and its already starting to drive me nuts, but it should be here by the end of the week...I'm a big Rush fan too, hope you love your 345! Supersonic
zZounds has a date of November 17 on their site for their arival. That's not guaranteed though, it's just an estimate. Where did you order yours from?

Supersonic
From them- LOL! I want the WHITE one so I'll wait! LOL. I want the red one really badly myself. That or a red 355. Maybe they'll have 'em in stock in time for Christmas.
Supersonic
Do the 345 retail the same price as the 355 ? Yep. $699 online and I think the list price is $1,165 for both.
RUSHian
Yeah, the 345 has more features for the buck than the 355- I pre ordered mine to make sure I get the white one - they say the Cherry's coming in Sept 15?
LongMan
Do the 345 retail the same price as the 355 ? More important question: Will the ES-345 be available in Europe?
RUSHian
It seems like these Epiphone ES guitars come out in random spurts no one knows when and where they will come out.
Cyclone83
Yes, they will. Already seen the 335, 339 and the white 345 at the famous guitar houses (musicstore, Musikhaus Korn, Thomann) and I for myself also pre-ordered one red 345 at thomann

RUSHian
I wish they would give a specific date so I can be ready, and not have them sneak in and take the money Ninja style!
RUSHian
The 345 is semi hallow right- does it have the wood center? It's not clear in the description
RUSHian
Semi Hollows do have center-wood if not it would be full hollow, like the Casino Edit there is an unwritten law about the size of signatures it shouldn't be bigger than an average post I have to scroll down for days to get the next post Thanks I don't want a Casio then! LOL! I didn't make my sig big on purpose is just came that way. At least I was nice enough to post a small pic of the 345!
Lefty Bill
Just resize the pics...... It might be worth mentioning that there is a preference option for members to select, so the sigs don't display at all. It only works if the reader is signed in. damian
I just ordered a White Epi ES 345 with the Bixby- I've never used a Bixby- anyone give me their experiences? Stunning guitars......I use Bigsbys....I find them very stable, even with stock bridges...As RaSTus says, the Wilkinson roller bridges are nice; I just got a couple of them myself... They are also solid brass, which I prefer over the stock "mystery metal' and "zinc alloy" which come stock with many unnamed "Famous Brands"............... Check out Guitar Fetish for guitar parts.........and the roller bridges.......
Cyclone83
I haven't seen any ES-345 at thomann http://www.thomann.de/de/search.html?gf=es-modelle&bf=epiphone&ls=100&oa=prd They're not officially posted yet, but I already got a order confirmation from thomann with corresponding art.nr. ;)
RUSHian
I'll have to do an new sig anyways, since I don't have the Iceman anymore.
Supersonic
So when people buy their Epi ES-345's and ES-355's, they will have to drill holes in the brand new guitar to put the pickguard on?? Why don't they just put it on to start with and if people want to take it off, they can? They look horrible without the pickguards on. The bound PG completes the package IMO. Cyclone83
I wonder if the screw hole measures on that bigsby are same as the ones on the original USA B7? I'd like to change it, but don't wanna drill new holes at all
RUSHian
Update: I found out I need a root canal, so I don't think I can afford the guitar right now.
LongMan
Why don't they just put it on to start with and if people want to take it off, they can? Because it's easier to get the holes in if you want a pickguard, rather than to get rid of the holes if you don't want a pickguard? They look horrible without the pickguards on. Matter of taste I guess. I prefer them without pickguard, at least without the Epiphone standard pickguards. The bound PG completes the package IMO. *If* I wanted a pickguard I would prefer a Gibson ES shape pickguard, with the corresponding Gibson mounting bracket. That one needs other holes anyway. So all in all I can say "Well done Epiphone". People who want no pickguard don't have to mess with ugly looking superfluous holes, and to get in the holes if you need them is no big deal.
