[Just like the old days.] If you want more distortion you have to turn up the volume I bet their good for blues or country though. If you want to play harder stuff though, it would have to be really loud. [brilliant observation} Nice amp though! I wasn't dissing btw it just wasn't for me. If you want to play harder stuff though, it would have to be really loud. ...or you could use a basic attenuator and crank the volume, yet still play at bedroom volumes. Can you run a cab off the headphone jack without damaging the amp or the speaker(s)? Might be a good way to get decent attenuation (non-adjustable) to a low level.
