NGD Elitist Casino

Hello all

It's been a while since I posted on this fine forum, so I thought I would mark my return with some pics of my latest Epiphone, my Elitist Casino. I have been waiting a LONG time for one of these, and finally I found someone with them in stock last week:

Which brings me on to my dilemma. As a new member of the collection enters, I need to be selling one off to make room. I have narrowed it down to the following three:

Fender Telecaster Custom 62 Japan

Gibson SG Classic

Gibson Midtown Custom

I have two Tele's and two SGs, so there is some justification there. But I also have a 335 and the new Casino so so I really need three semi's?

Please can you advise which one you would let go?

Thanks!

Anthony

HN(very nice)GD...!!

Personal advice is not to sell any guitars... [biggrin]

3 semis is only the beginning

And a nice selection of Teles, Strats etc... [thumbup]

Thanks V. She's a beauty.

I really don't want to sell any guitars, but I kinda made a deal with the Mrs, so one has to go :(

If both your Telecasters have the same pickup configuration then I think the Custom 62 should be sold. I presume that your other SG has humbuckers and the SG Classic you're considering has P-90's so I would keep them both. The other choice would be between the ES-335 and Midtown Custom and that depends on which one you prefer. Those seem to be your most valuable guitars and selling one of those would bring in the most money which would probably please the Mrs.

Beautiful Casino!

Thanks for the replies guys, however it is with regret to announce that I am returning the guitar. I have found a few defects on it and I don't believe it to brand new as advertised. They are pretty small defects, but when I spend over a £1000 on a guitar, it has to be right.

I am disappointed as I have waited long time for one of these. I still intend to get another if I can find one.

Mark, to answer your question about the 335 and Midtown.... I'd say the 335 has a warmer sound compared to the Midtown, but the Midtown is still very smooth sounding. I bought it unseen from Thomann when they were selling them cheap and I am very impressed with it. The 335 is my baby though. The Casino is a different beast altogether. The P90s break up quicker and have a totally different vibe. Unplugged, the Casino wins hands down.

Sorry to see that you found some flaws on the Casino, dealers who try to pass off even slightly used guitars as new are unscrupulous as far as I'm concerned and I'd never do business with them again, making it clear to them why.I would also tell them that I would be spreading the word.I bought my 1965 John Lennon Casino by ordering it from the Canadian distributor through my local Mom and Pop store and it has gained the top place of being my favourite of my 30 guitars.Don't give up entirely on Casinos just from having a bad experience with a less than honest dealer.Top line Casinos are among the best made guitars around today and their playability and tone is beyond comparison.Anyway best of luck in the future in tracking down another Casino, but I'd hate to be the one making the choice of what guitar to get rid of.If it came down to being absolutely one final choice,I'd probably get rid of the Midtown as it would probably the easiest one to replace somewhere down the road.
