50th anniversary CRESTWOOD 1962

Have this beauty for four days now - so far so good. Finish is extremely good, playability is great and tone is what I was expecting: a step up from the Wilshire reissue, even if those share the same pickups. Tone is deeper, richer, sweeter.

The only down side is related to the tremotone's arm: even if you screw it tight, it doesn't stay tightened for long. But it works fine in a bigsby way. Installing new strings is quite uneasy too thx to the tremotone. And about the tremotone : the string's angle from the bridge to the tremotone is small, and is even smaller on the G string, so there's a bit less sustain with that one (took me some time to notice, so not a huge problem).

Nice! I'm waiting on the new Coronet, myself. That is, if they're not a Gibson Custom Shop model.

I'm waiting too, but I'm rather sure it will be a Gibson CS model - look at the trussrod plate, two screws = made in USA.

That looks incredible! I really really want one of these. I just bought a 1968 Casino though! Gah! I will probably get the white version.

Where did you guys see about the Coronet reissue????????

The 1964 Coroneet is on the Epiphone Press Site:

There aren't any details yet, but the headstock pic shows a two-hole TRC, which definitely hints at made in USA.

Since dealers still have stock of the 1962 Wilshire, limited to 100 pieces and released in 2009, I'm hoping that Epi goes a little easier on pricing on this one.

That looks awesome! Hope they do a run in "Silver Fox"!!! Looks like they got the batwing and tuners right on this reissue, I bought one of the cheap worn cherry Wilshire reissues and it was okay, but the batwing was too fat compared to a vintage headstock + I wish it had the cream button tuners etc...

Could happen. Waaaaaaay back in October of '09 on the Epiphone Blog they said

"A white grain filler was used and then covered in a “green-ish” clear back in ’64 to get this desired effect… and is quite difficult to reproduce today. But we have the guy who can do it! (hint, hint)"

That would be amazing! I need a live backup for my Jr and a silver fox Coronet be perfect! I mean they are basically the same guitar. I can see this being another $500 guitar like the Crestwood. I mean, it's just 1 P90 on there! Very basic guitar. Then again the "list" on my custom shop Jr was almost $4k (not what I paid I can assure you!!).

I was amazed at how cheap this Crestwood was with hard case. Bit of a bargain.

WOW this ia an awesome guitar!!!!!!!!! The pups are fantastic and just like Doc the fit and finish is flawless. Except for a defective jack--easily fixed

Now I had to touch it for it to be minds. So I got ride of the plastic nut and had a tusq put on.

Biggest surprise was the case. It is grey!!! with royal blue interior. SWEET!!!! msp_thumbup.gif

I ma put on some kluson style locking tuners in the future, and possible roller bridge. but for now It is awesome as is!!!!!

i noticed on the Guitar ctr and Musician's friend website this guitar is no longer available!!!!!

It's a prestige limited edition. Better be quick, there's no way they could make thousands of such quality guitars at such a low price IMHO.
