Phoenix
I got an 07' LP Double Cut. It's plain ebony, with rosewood fretboard. Only thing changed besides neck adjustments etc. are straplocks. Anybody else have one? It seems to me as if Double Cuts are rare and are not seen many places.
nolongermike@gibson
I wouldn't call them rare, they made a lot for a few years. I think most folks who have them keep them because they are cool guitars.
Ian Martin
They are interesting. Personally, I find them to look a little too much like a PRS though.
nikko18
i didn't like them at first, but there was this one at a music store i go to a lot and it was really cool. after playing it a while i decided they where actually pretty cool, my first choice would still be a single cut away though. WezV
yeah, but lets face it... it was PRS's success that made gibson revive the shape when they did, just like it was gibsons success that made PRS do the singlecut I love the double cuts... more than the PRS shape actually. There is something very functional about it and i remember having serious GAS for a blue one with cream P-90's
phil325
it never reminded me of PRS but now that you mention it, yes. it does resemble. i love double cuts though
retrosurfer1959
Easy instrument to play good feel and sounds great especially with the p-90's . I dont think they have the classic great looks of a standard single cut but still cool.
Murph
My #1 is an ES-339, and my #2 is an SG. I love double cuts, just never had a DC Lester. Now, I wonder...... Why? Murph.
Tbone00
I have a 1999 GLP DC special and I absolutely love it! Cherry Mahogany body/neck, rosewood board. Only thing- it has P-100's which I am replacing with Lindy Fralin p-90's next week but other than that, it's my new workhorse. I love the feel and sound. I can get a nice quiet ping or pull a nasty biting growl but the Lindy's will step it up a few levels.
Phoenix
Thanks for all your input guys, my opinion on the PRS/Gibson Doublecut & Singlecut is that PRS copied off of gibson in every way, but they both made eachother do well in business. Phoenix
I think if i ever had enough cash to buy another LP I would call Gibson and have them make me a DC again, but with a few extra personal specifications.
BIGBENDS
I like the LP DC, Phoenix! I tried that one at my local GC this past summer. The GC/Gibson 2008 calendar has a pic of 2 Les Paul DC's for the month of November. They're just plain beautiful guitars. I hope to have one someday. Congrats, Phoenix. Phoenix
Thanks, what are you playing? And yeah, I saw only two DC's at my local Guitar Center for all this year and last.
Dynadude
I've always loved the look of the LP DC. I bought a used Spirit back in the early '80s, and really liked the feel. It was a flat top solid body, but pretty close to a LP DC. I finally had the spare cash to buy the '98 DC I have now back in late '04, and I think it's the best investment I ever made. I paid $750.00 for it, from the original owner, and it was virtually spotless. I really like the weight, and the feel of the neck. It's not a fancy guitar, but it's a quality guitar, and I plan to keep it until I pass it along to one of my kids.

ffoulkesy
hey i'm getting a new guitar and i was thinking about getting a gibson. any recomendations?
Phoenix
It's personal preference. Go to a few stores and play all of them. Make sure you try both the 60's and the 50's style neck, theres also other guitars just besides a Les Paul though. In the end it's really what you feel comfortable playing. Cruznolfart
Got the Epi version, the Del Rey, about 10 years ago. I like it a lot. As it turns out it's also a discontinued model. Too bad, it's a fun guit.
