In or Out of the Loop? Pedal placement advice.
Narwhal6 replied to Sheepdog1969's topic in The Gibson Lounge
Typically if you're happy with the gain channel on your amp you would put your pedals in the effects loop (reverb, delay, chorus, phaser) and just use the amps foot switch to toggle between clean and overdrive. If you have a favorite drive pedal or gain or fuzz, then that goes between the guitar and amp as already mentioned or it will mess up your amp. Using the effects loop just makes the effect more crisp or noticeable when you're playing with gain. -

Do The Beatles still hold up to modern music?
Narwhal6 replied to cody78's topic in The Gibson Lounge
Keep in mind that they were popular in rock's infancy. Take a song like "I Feel Fine" and you can hear John holding his thumb against the opening note to achieve a feedback kind of sound. There weren't overdrives or gain pedals or really any type of effects available then. They and others were pioneers basically. And saying they didn't really "rock"? Well listen to this modern version of She said, she said and tell me it doesn't rock. -
Hofner has a series of Korean made basses called "Ignition" that's affordable and available in the familiar violin shape or single cutaway club bass. https://www.hofner.com/en/kategorieubersicht-basse

Very nice! I bet the Epiphone sounds awesome through it, there's nothing quite like natural tube tone especially on the clean channel with a little reverb.

Do The Beatles still hold up to modern music?

They predate me a little but I'm familiar with most of their music. For me, the three albums Help, Rubber Soul, and Revolver were where they progressed by leaps and bounds over their previous stuff. Songs from Revolver like; Dr Robert, She said she said, Paperback writer and Rain could all be released today by a contemporary artist and do well I think. -

Saw this online article; https://www.guitarworld.com/news/gibson-victory-new-model-tease-2023 I would love to try one of these, any of Gibson's used super strat models are scarce and usually overpriced. Hopefully it will have a Floyd rose or similar and won't be the typical tune-o-matic with the stop bar tailpiece setup.

Nice! I have an old Cannondale that I've somehow managed to keep over the last thirty some odd years. I ride it occasionally downtown and then realize that I might prefer the ergonomics of a beach cruiser moreso now than that of a mountain bike 😆
