  1. I have one though I've never referred to it as an "archtop". Seems archaic or too jazzy of a moniker to me. I don't play it much anymore but when I first got it it's all I played for a good year or so.
  2. "Nowhere to run"- Martha Reeves and the Vandellas
  3. "Back of Love"- Echo and the Bunnymen
  4. I rather like the sound of the twelve string. I have to admit I like what they do with the paranormal series. In ten years when one winds up in a pawn shop, someone will be wondering how there came to be a strat with tele controls, three pickups, and ash tray bridge and buy it and begin creating music inspired perhaps by the oddness of it.
  5. "Rain in the summertime"- The Alarm
  6. Oh I like expensive watches too, I just don't own any 😆 Years ago when there used to be catalogs in the mail I remember seeing a watch inspired by Nicky Hayden Moto GP rider by citizen or Bulova. I remember it had a red face and was just really cool looking....but it cost $700. And though I knew of him and was a fan of Moto GP, I just couldn't justify the price. It's the same with the Taylor watches, I don't own a Taylor guitar nor do I plan to. The watches look cool, but can't justify the price. So I'll keep my nondescript basic timekeepers and wait for an expensive one that I can justify the price of, like an old vintage something or other that I stumble across.
  7. "Paradise by the dashboard light"- Meatloaf
  8. I bought a late 70's twin reverb about twenty years ago from a coworker for $200. It needed work immediately and I think I paid another $100 to have someone get it functional again. Since then it's been flawless, and I love the smell of it when the tubes get warm and the soft incandescent glow of them. I also have a small Supro tube amp and even the AM radio in my old Ford is tube driven and still pulls in stations once the tubes are warmed up. I don't know if I'll have to worry about any of them needing replacement down the road, but I think there will always be some kind of boutique type of manufacturer still supplying tubes as long as there is a demand for them.
  9. My sentiments as well, I feel off balance without a watch on. I work in a warehouse on a loading dock, if you're caught looking at your phone while operating a hi/lo , even just to check the time, you could be fired. Also, this time of year I'm riding my motorcycle to work instead of driving and being able check if I'm running late or not with a quick glance to my watch is essential as I have a twenty plus mile commute. My current watch belonged to my dad, my mom gave it to me when he passed away. I don't think it cost more than $20 but it's comfortable to wear and looks like a high dollar one with multiple complications, but it just tells time, the extra hands and dials within the main dial are nonfunctional. My work watch is a Casio.
  10. "Lines around your eyes"- Lucinda Williams
  11. My first thought when I read the thread title was Rush's Hemispheres album 😂
  12. Like you, I prefer the traditional styling. Sometimes it's hard to find the 1500 series in the standard cab long box configuration, and if you do it's probably going to be white. I was told that makes it easy for commercial or fleet purchasers to add their logos and graphics. I had to hunt a little for mine in 2015, owned it since new. Has about 115,000 on it now.
  13. "People have the Power"- Patti Smith
  14. Well he may have redeemed himself as the little mail truck came up my driveway this morning, that's fast shipping from Cali to Michigan. Unfortunately I was dead asleep or in the shower when they knocked. It was sent signature required, so maybe Monday now. His ad had the pedal listed as in mint condition and free shipping which is what lured me in, and despite having to prompt him to ship he seems to have come through. We'll see if his idea of mint is what most of us regard as mint. I love that you can find stuff that's only available used due to an item, or sometimes even a company, no longer being available new.
  15. I was just curious if anyone has any horror stories or precautionary advice when ordering gear on Reverb. I ordered a pedal from a shop in California on Monday and received a message from the seller saying thanks for the order, I won't be going to the post office til later this week but I'll get it all boxed up for you. So I was thinking.....ok, I'll give them the benefit of doubt. Zero word from him Tues-Thurs til I messaged him about 5:30 pm. I asked if he could let me know when he was going to mail it. Get a quick response; I'll head to the post office shortly. So I respond; Thank you, I appreciate the quick response, and nothing further. Reverb has sent me tracking info so it's definitely been shipped, just kind of an odd first transaction with what looks to be a really cool online marketplace.
