Pete B
Got this a couple of years ago. Fancied a strat but I like Epi's. So heres some old piccys to bring you up to date. How it arrived Odd bridge with odd screws Monkey metal block
Pete B
Fenderish PG which didn't fit with really awful pickups Setup was rubbish with a plastic shim in the neck pocket. Tackled that first. A very nice chap from these forums, Aoresteen , sent me his old Epi 24 fret PG. Although mine was 22 fret, I extrapolated the curve of the top and designed a 22 fret version then I cut from acrylic on the laser cutter.
Pete B
Lined up the PG with the body and drilled some pilot holes. Opened the holes out and used beech dowels to fill them. Beech is a very hard wood and takes screws far better than mahogany. Also drilled and pressed the posts in for my new bridge.
Pete B
After a bit of paint colour matching, spraying the rear of the PG, then shielding. More shielding on the control cavaties A quick pic of how it may look
Pete B
Fitting the pickups, Blues Tubes with silicon rubber tubing rather than springs, so much better on all counts.
Pete B
Looking good even with the plastic still on Started the fretboard cleanup while waiting on some other parts And drew a quick wiring diagram, adding tone to bridge and neck pickup switching
Pete B
Parts arrived and in an excited soldering frenzy this happened. Almost there now
Pete B
And here it is in bits, will post a better piccy soon, will have to dust off my SLR I haven't been able to put this thing down. The neck is a dream and the pickups are great All parts from those very nice Axesrus chaps Gibson, you really should reissue the S series with some upgrades, the necks are a killer
