Hold on, I'm Coming

I've always loved this song. Love the power of the horns and those swinging rhythm chords on guitar.

Lord have mercy! Just makes me want to get up and dance!

Found it live. Thought there might be some old R&B fans out there who would appreciate it.

As evidence of my incredible depth of knowledge of utterly useless music trivia:

Bobby Whitlock wanted Dave Mason as the guitar player vocalist for the band he was starting after the Delaney tour finished, the band that became Derek and the Dominos. Him and the other two didn't think Eric could hack the vocals that Bobby wanted. He wanted a Rock And Roll, B3/Leslie goin to church bad *** version of Sam and Dave. She's Gone, Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad, Tell The Truth, man the brilliant knock offs of Sam and Dave abound on that whole record. Keep on Growin, Any Day, man, just great stuff.

So anyway, Delaney Bramlett suggested to him, on the last night of that tour, that they give Eric a whack at it because Delaney thought he could do it quite well fairly quickly. It turned out he could do the vocs pretty well, but on the live record and the few bootlegs that exist, it was his guitar playing that couldn't keep up with that massive, thundering, barely on the tracks freight train of a band that could just play for hours on end.

That's all I got.

Funny (or should I say ironic) that you post this song. I was statioed at Ft Myer (VA) in the late sixties and "soul music" was most of what donimated the NCO club. Sam and Dave songs were mainstays! I've recently noticed that "Hold on" is the backgroud music for a Mass Mutual commercial. Always liked this song, for a lot of the same reasons.

Wait....

I prefer this one.

Murph!!!

What an honor and pleasure to see your reply to my post.

"Swamp Thing" anything swampy is always good in my book because I just love that swamp music that comes out of the bayou area of the South.

I'll give it a listen.
