Weight

Lefsa

Recommended Posts

I live in the backwoods of Scandinavia, and buying a guitar untried is probably not a good idea. But I lust for (a new) Les Paul Special Tribute - Humbucker (Natural Walnut Satin). My worry is the weight, as the few Les Pauls that I've handled has been HEAVY!

I know that wood varies, but how is this model's weight compared to other Les Pauls?

I am not an expert on "Specials", but as far as I know they don't have a maple cap on top of the body.  So that makes them lighter than a regular Les Paul.  But it also prevents any weight relief from being routed into the body.  I would guess they weight about 8 pounds give or take?  I am sure there are some people on this forum that own them and could weight theirs for you to get an idea.

Most of my Les Pauls in the past have been heavier than that one, Lefsa.
The guitar you desire is pretty light for a Les Paul.

My previous ones:
1971 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe gold-top  - 9 lbs 8 ounces
1996 Gibson Les Paul Studio  - 9 lbs
2001 Gibson Les Paul Studio Coppertop  - 8 lbs, 14 ounces
2013 Gibson Les Paul Sully Erna Signature - 9 lbs
2018 Gibson Les Paul Faded in Worn Bourbon -  7 lbs, 8 ounces , the same as the guitar you are considering.

My most recent ones:
2018 Gibson Les Paul BFG  7 lbs, 9.5 ounces , a comfy weight.
2017 Gibson Les Paul Custom Studio – 7 lbs, 3 ounces , even lighter yet.

🙂
