SteveFord
Different. I wonder how much it weighs compared to a regular Flying V?

Sgt. Pepper
6.9k? Laughable. Gibson nuts will swallow any bitter pill given to them. I know if you can’t afford a 7k guitar too bad for you and go buy an Epi instead. Edited October 30, 2022 by Sgt. Pepper
SteveFord
A bitter pill to swallow, indeed. Luckily, I don't care for the headstock or toggle switch location so it wasn't very tempting in the first place.

They'll sell a few to some wealthy completist collectors if they're lucky.

Lets change that statement to they will sell all of them to . . . yes the rich collectors.
fortyearspickn
I'm wondering if the McMillionaires in China buy American made Gibsons?
sparquelito
Zero temptation here. Don't care for Flying V's. 😬

They love guitars and blue jeans and Marlboro's.
SteveFord
And old Stetson hats and Red Wing boots and vintage McIntosh audio gear and British motorcycles and you name it.

Sgt. Pepper
Is it kind of a slap in the face to have Gibson make you a sig model guitar and not even use their pickups? I guess when you are selling them for 7k a pop, probably not? Edited October 30, 2022 by Sgt. Pepper

I don't think Mustaine wants them. If he hadn't fallen out with Jackson, I think he'd still be playing Jacksons. Rumor has it he used his old Jacksons in the studio while he was with Dean and ESP. Well that is evident (about the pups) and classy (if he did use Jacksons while promoting and being paid by Dean and ESP).

But his ESPs and Deans all looked like his Jacksons, pretty much, and wasn't there some sort of situation where he wanted to buy into Jackson and it fell through? Probably not unusual. I doubt all the Epi signature artists all use their Epis in the studio. Edited October 30, 2022 by Pinch

That's false advertising. Only if you're caught. I dunno, could have read it in the tabloid press. I can't remember. It does sound like something Mustaine would say after the fact. He's edgy like that. But I'm not sure. I have a lot of respect for him as a guitar player, though. He took the style he and Hetfield kind of pioneered and developed it into something truly unique. Big fan of the old stuff.
