Mr. Robot
Hi folks, This is just a very short little piece I did to test out my new iMac as a recording studio. It is simple and only goes for a few minutes. I recorded it using GarageBand.

Lowdown
Nice. Garageband is a terrific tool. There's really no need at all to step up unless you're getting seriously into recording. And even then you can still do an album with the right plug-ins and mix. Good stuff.
Witmer
Wow! Very nice. As good or better than half the jazz I stream from Pandora. Thanks for sharing. I like your tone for both guitar and bass. ...gave it five stars on YouTube...

bluenote
That was really good! I have an IMac, but I have never looked into the Garage Band (believe it or not!) Well done!
KL
I have an iMac with garage band and I have never used it. Do I need to buy loads of expensive software etc to get going? Do you know of any good websites for technophobes to help get started with garage band? I use a 16 track recording machine at home to make demos, then take them to the studio. Maybe I need to get up to date!!

Plenty of Comps,EQ's,etc etc. Open it up and have a look for yourself. It's really a quite powerful little package. If you have the latest OS,Snow Leopard or even Leopard then you'll have amp, stomp box modelling as well. There is a few sites out there also that have plug-ins that are free to download. Some are crap(of course)yet some are great. There's a few that I always use. They don't necessarily do a better job than something that you'd pay Big $ for,but they do it good enough and in certain situations/songs fit in "better". All relative... Here's one of my fave sites - http://www.kvraudio.com/get.php?mode=results&st=adv&soft[ Getting started is like anything - just a matter of diving in. Click on "Help" or - http://www.macmusic.org/articles/?lang=en Nah. You don't need to get up to date either. I prefer the sound I get from my Tascam Porta 04! It's true that digital does tend to suck the life outta things, but hey it's so fast and easy. I dunno, there's always give and take. It's the price we pay I guess. Though,to get started...you will need an interface - http://line6.com/podstudioux2/. I recommend this mainly because it has the VU meters. That's not funny. Besides this being a great little interface(yes I use one)and having phantom power(which you'll need if you're gonna get serious and get a condenser mic...but forget about that for now)etc.etc. The #1 thing you'll discover with digital recording is that you have to NEVER drive your recordings. Aim for between -24 and -12 db. Redline a digital recording and it will sound like SH*T. Total opposite of analogue. So...dive in. Save money. Have fun. Enjoy.
