P94...

P94 should be a P90 in a humbucker casing

But is it the same as a P90? just in a different housing?

I am reading on websites that they are the same, and that they aren't. Just want to clarify. I am planning a purchase of a Sheraton this summer, and would like a p90 in the neck. I know there is the casino, but I prefer the sheraton, and don't want two p90s

Humbucker sized p90s. They are overwound' date=' really hot single coils.

And you know what single coil means...

You don't want 2 p90s? Why?

BTW I take it you want one for the neck and a HB in the bridge.[/quote']

Yeah, I want a p90 in the neck, and something like a 57, maybe a SD Jazz in the bridge for a smoother sound.

But soundwise, it is just a p90 in a humbucker sized casing?

I love the "raw" sound of p90s through a tube amp, but I want a humbucker to get some nicer smooth tones, I think it would give a lot of versatility.

It sounds like a p90... if you open it up there's no real diffference on how both (soapbar and hb shaped) pickups are made.

P90s can give you smooth tones, you can use the tone and volume controls for that. You have humbucker sized routings on the guitar already or p90 routing? 'cause you could get a p90 shaped/sized humbucker too [-(

One of the things I love the most about p90s (and I know some will flame me for saying this) is how they look.

I also love the way they look. I currently have humbucker routings. Are there other P90 models that will fit in humbucker routings?

Buzzzzzzzz.

Hummmmmmmmmm.

I don't like em.

Noisey little rascals.

Yeah, but I love them when overdriven, they sound like gold. That's why I want one in the neck, and a jazz or like a 57 pickup, something a little smoother. I think it would be a great complement to each other

Well, it does sound like a tasty combination, but if you've never played P90s on a hollowbody (or a semi) you will learn about feedback pretty quickly...not that that's a BAD thing.

Yeah I have, I'm starting to learn how to use feedback for my own advantage, able to get some cool sounds out of it. On a side note, plugged in an acoustic to an amp, held the guitar up to it, and rattled all of the strings in Guitar Center for about 10 seconds before they figured out what was going on [biggrin]

A friend's kid did that with my J45 and the Bluesbreaker (it was dimed for the 54 BB). Things actually fell off of the walls!

Yeah' date=' too hard... too hard to listen to. I like music, not noise [biggrin']

You got something to say?

Im sorry i just find the same chord being played over and over again a little boreing.

If you dont think this is music.

Then you dont have a ear.

As to the statement in bold' date=' I actually have to agree with you there.

I'm at least a little perplexed when someone refers to death metal as "noise," because it's very obviously not "noise" at all, to me at least. I find that people tend to confuse musicality with tone, performance and presentation. My advice to those who have called it noise has gone as such in the past: ignore the heavily distorted characteristics of the vast majority of death metal tones (and I mean [i']vast[/i] majority,) the nature of the common themes and images present in the genre (which are fairly sophisticated, if you ask me,) and the unconventional style of vocal performance (at least when there are vocals) which is often utilized--the music is quite clearly there, although for some listeners it's hard to get past things like tone, speed and thematic content. It seems, however, that this doesn't normally work--as with all particulars of taste, either you "get it" or you don't.

Death metal ain't noise, though. [cool]

Alright' date=' let me explain myself here. I live in middle-upper class suburbia in Illinois, where every kid plays "metal". Whenever I go to a guitar shop, whenever I go to Battle of the Bands, smaller shows, that's all I hear. When you have 5 kids with their Line 6 Spider's playing speed runs, that's noise. I won't be playing metal. ever. It is music, I am mainly referring to the stuff that I have to hear on a continual basis. My apologies for insulting metal.

And by the way, I don't play the same chord over and over again default_eusa_wall.gif I add texture to my music. Once I get some decent recordings up, I will post them.

Thanks for your time
