O say, can you see through the dawns early light, what so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?

 

Who's broad stripes and bright stars... through the perilous fight... o'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming!

 

And the rocket's red glare! The bombs bursting in air! Gave proof through the night that oiur flag was still there.

 

O say, does that star spangled banner yet wave o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Here's my contribution to the American Independence Day musical thread. It doesn't get much better than Brother Ray. I would also like to dedicate this to my wife, who became a proud Naturalized American Citizen in 1964.

I think we are the only country whose anthem is about a flag whereas most national anthems praise the country. I think "America the Beautiful" would be a better anthem and Mr. Ray Charles sang it best.
