STLBlues
...and put my first ding on my semi new R9. Was at a buddies house for a jam session and i held my guitar up by the neck attatching my guitar strap to the bottom strap button and wasn't thinking about the ceiling fan right above me and THUD..THUD...THUD. I freaked out a little but it wasn't too bad. Just knocked a little finish off the top of the headstock. I felt like a total klutz afterwards. Riffster
It happens. I ding all my guitars sooner than later, literally...like really soon. My R8 has 3 dings, 1 I think was already there when I bought it and 2 I put there. My (reluctant) philosophy is that as long as nothing breaks, bends and I don't get dings on the back of the neck I am good.
retrosurfer1959
It happens. I had a ceiling fan accident also a while back myself not only do they damage your guitar but damn I felt stupid.
Shnate McDuanus
Eh, you'll get over it. On my SG, I have a chip of wood missing from my headstock, and a corner of one of the cutaways where the finish is completely worn away. Also the neck is beginning to show bare wood in spots... Californiaman
Having just gone through it with my Telecaster let me welcome you to the club. I'm sorry. It's never easy. But it will give it some "used" credibility.
craigh
I did that with my Hofner Beatle Bass. Fortunately the fan was running slow & only a minor scratch, but everythime I play that bass, I'm reminded. Craig
Richie Grimes
Dings give a guitar character. Nobody likes getting them, but after a while, they seem to belong there. The bright side is that you didn't ding your hand too.

I just polished it and I was surprised by how good it looks when it's not caked in sweat.
BoyVader
Wife made me go into back room to practice...yeah I know....and I sat in a chair that I dont usually use....put tiny ding on back of SG...only I can see it, and it's only cosmetic, but I know its there!!! Stay single....
Tman5293
you cry' date=' you get over it then move on...dings are just battle scars lol[/quote'] This is the reason why guitars are sometimes referred to as battle axes.
STLBlues
It doesn't bother me. I sort of expected it to happen one way or another by this time. Every guitar I've ever owned gets its first ding within 3-4 months at least. Oh well.
TommyK
Been there, done that. Jean still has the scar.
ShredAstaire
My LP had a chunk taken out of it one night...you can't tell from far away, but thats cuz i did some cosmetic fixes on my own...it was on the black part of the silverburst so you just saw wood. I don't mind as much now...but man was i upset when it first happened.
