IF YOU COULD HAVE ONE THING TO MAKE YOUR GUITAR "COMPLETE" WHAT WOULD IT BE?

fOR INSTANCE, MINE WOULD BE THIS http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160216401162&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=006

THOSE ARE EXACTLY LIKE THE ONES JOHN LENNON HAD ON HIS CASINO. THAT, I BELEIVE, WOULD MAKE MY GUITAR COMPLETE.

I WOULD JUST HAVE TO SELL A WHOLE LOT OF ARMY STUFF TO GET THEM.

Tom - Don't know what you mean by, "A WHOLE LOT OF ARMY STUFF", but, I'm a Vet, '66-'69 and now looking back, I sure wish I had saved everything. BUT, if these are things that you have and cause you grief, then by all means get rid of them and buy something that makes your soul get to a higher place..........J

If I could have one thing for my Casino' date=' it would have to be a "non-gloss" finish. I have nothing against the finish it has, but I really like the look of the Clapton ES-335.[/quote']

The luthier I go to said he would sand mine down a bit and make it have a satin finish for 150 bucks. That really isn't bad.

I have just odds and ends that I have "acquired". I have the kevlar that wore on pretty much every mission. The old style kevlar helmet, not the new improved one. My desert uniforms and my woodland uniforms. I have two gore-tex cold weather tops in the new army camoflauge. One of them cost 180 bucks the other is a less expensive one i paid 85 bucks for. A couple duffle bags, a sleeping bag, all kinds of pouches for the army vest. I don't know just a whole bunch of stuff.

I am definately going to get rid of all of it when I get out in March of 2009.

Just keep playing that bad boy --- a decade or so of gigging, rehearsals, sweat, polishing cloths, parties, etc. and your Casino should be "organically Claptonized" just like the original.

As for me --- I'd love to have some virtuoso chops, but since I don't have six hours a day to practice, it ain't likely to happen!!

First off I want to say loud and clear that I am absolutely and totally pissed off that you had to have a single dime of your money spent to provide yourself with the basic comfort and protection necessary to perform your duties while in service to your country while the oil companies are posting record profits and the no-bid contractors and civilian security concerns are paid stupid money to be there.

Second, what you do is your business and please take this how I mean it but I think it would be foolish of you to put Patent Pend. Grovers on your Casino because the only essential difference between what is now offered as Grovers Rotomatics is that Pat. Pend stamping and the Phillip screw knob retaining screws (the USA Grovers had flat head screws). Your guitar isn't a 60's Kalamazoo Casino so to maintain any kind of "period correctness" at that kind of expense is money poorly spent. If you had an actual '65 Casino and were making a precise replica-maybe, but you're actually just trying to get *close*. You would be wise to spend your money toward a Lennon Reissue if you want something more accurate than what you have- One other thing, I don't think the Grovers in the auction are from 1960. While yes, they are what Lennon later used, I think the ones with the screw in grommets came later like about 1967. I've had a few guitars from the 60's that had Pat. Pend. Grovers and if I recall they were the press in grommet type. If you really want something closer to what Lennon played get the reissue. I own an actual '65 and the differences are nominal. Good luck.

...and Al's your uncle.

I understand what you are saying, however, my wife would kill me. The only reason I have the Casino I have is because I won it on ebay while in Iraq. I bought my second Casino with my 2007 income tax return. My wife complains because I have two guitars that cost a litlle over a thousand dollars if bought together. No Imagine what she would do if I bought a 2000 dollar or more single guitar.

You could do that yourself, you know... I do it all the time on necks, with a piece of ScotchBrite... You may want to use some fine grit sandpaper afterwards to smooth it all down, nice and satiny.. The main ***** of it would be fishing all the electronics back in after you're done..

I forgot to answer the question!

I just got the 1st and last replacement piece I want for my Casino.. Which is a new bridge to replace the buzzy stock bridge... Otherwise, I love the pups and have had no tuning issues since I lubed the nut... So if it aint broke, I aint gonna fix it... Despite being a huge Beatles freak, I have no desire to Lennonize it... She's so beautiful the way she is, I don't want to change a thing..

The Dot, on the other hand... That's getting a complete overhaul.. I already got green keystones, black silver-top knobs, and a bone nut to replace the dreaded black plastic nut.. Now all it need are new pups (gonna try the GFS Vintage '59s) a roller bridge and a Bigsby... Oh, and a 335-style pickguard... I've thought about knocking the gloss off it, (it's got a few flaws in the clear-coat which I would not call "minor", but they don't jump out at you either..) but I don't know if I wanna go through all the work..
