Hmmm.....

I don't know if this will be of interest to you or not, but in terms of models that will be in production, and for sale in 2009:

1. The Casino

2. Les Paul Ultra II

3. Prophecy EM-2 Custom EX

4. Prophecy Futura Custom EX

5. Prophecy Les Paul Custom EX

6. Prophecy SG Custom EX

7. Tom Delonge Signature ES-333

8. Wildkat

Now, there are no mentions of the other models currently available. Now, the question has to be begged.....at this point, are there any plans to continue production on existing models until they run out of current stock?

I'm still of the belief that due to the economic conditions globally, production would be scaled back a bit.

If you're got your eye on an Epiphone...you may want to pick it up as soon as possible. Once they're gone?

(PS: I'd love to get some elaboration on this. It wasn't lost on me that some other manufacturers were listing pretty much their entire lines...)

Hmm...doesn't even sound farfetched. Picture Epiphone as Gibson's playground. Gibson can monitor Epiphone-sales to see how far they can take a particular model without hurting their own image. Plus Epiphone is improving on their own identity with exclusive models and not just producing cheap 1:1 Gibson clones.

Those guides NEVER show a manufacturer's entire product line. It doesn't mean anything, except the magazine doesn't havee nough space to feature every model from every manufacture. It would be as thick as a phone book.

From the list that they are showcasing, it appears that Epiphone is marketing its guitar line the same way Hollywood markets movies and Alltel markets cell phones...for adolescents or at least the grandchildren of baby boomers. Fellow baby boomers, our time is over and we need to realize that. Except for GAS fanatics like us, baby boomers are probably not a big slice of the guitar-buying public. I work at a college with about 500 faculty...I am the only guy buying guitars according to the guy in the mailroom. My colleagues think I am still stuck in my childhood. Sigh....

Oh, I don't know. I'm not a baby boomer, and gas fanaticism aside....I sort of look at it this way. Guitar is featured in most aspects of rock, and pop music. I understand that those metal guitars fill a certain niche, but as long as musical styles exist outside of metal? Eh, you'll see the other models.

Nevertheless....I still can't help but wonder if it's a question of what's in production. Some other manufacturers in that magazine DID list most of their product lines that were available.

Anyways...as far as these models go? It's sort of hard to get a handle on a global marketplace. What might be approved of here may not sell elsewhere. (So, nah, I don't hold this place as the be-all end all of things.) Nevertheless, I have a suspicion that that Delonge model might be a bust. Also...if Epiphone IS working to market more of "these" kinds of guitars, I think they should do something with 'burst color schemes that sort of fit the sensibility of said "genre" while still finding admiration from the traditionalists and the GAS sect. (The Ultra II is a good example of this, but I sometimes wonder if they went far enough...)

Nothing wrong with being "stuck in your childhood," in that regard, if it makes you happy!

Just look at what the so called "Adults" have done, and are doing, to the world! Yep, I'm happy to

be "Stuck" in my past, as it were. LOL! As I tell anyone that accuses me of "living in the past,"

..."I don't live there, at all, I just like to visit...whenever possible!"

I'm waiting for MF to blowout the prophecy FX...

Man' date=' I don't know a ton about active pups, but the finish, original floyd rose, X-plorer body shape, and attractive price, I'm GASing...

And I'd also liek to get a Gibson BFG sometime...[/quote']

I have to admit...right now I'm fighitng off gas over a scratch n dent special for the Lefty Gibson Les Paul customs at MF....

(Sad irony...if I got a second Gibson, then no, I probably wouldn't play the Epiphones at all.....so no, must...avoid...temptation....)

If I had 3000 for gear right now...

I'd get the epi FX, the gibson BFG, a gibson faded flying V, and a epiphone Riviera.

Plus hard cases(if not included), A bigsby for the V and the Riviera(if they make 12-string bigsbys anymore...)

Hey Guys

Don't panic. I have purchased the Guitar World Buyers Guide for years and it is never complete, they don't have the space to cover every model for ever manufacturer that is included. If that was the case Seymour Duncan is dropping most of his pickups, Squier is only selling one strat and nothing else, etc. They also include guitars which have already been discontinued or changed, The Gibson Custom Classic is already discontinued. It is fun to look at but never as up to date as the internet or the information you find on the various forums out there.

The same thing happens with Guitar and Bass player guide every year. They are showing just a few models of every make. Epi will never stop making the Les Paul Standard I presume. Have a look in the amps section....you'll see what I mean.
