Hi,

I have a 2002 Casino Elite and would like to install humbuckers in it. I would like to have that PAF sound on this guitar, but I do not want to take a drill, router, or a saw to it.

Any suggestions??

Thanks for all replies.

Noooooooooo!

Don't do it. Why would you do that?

Here's an idea: Leave a beautiful, top of the line instrument intact. Sell it to someone who can appreciate an elite casino. You could get $1700 . $ 2000 for it. The go buy a Gibson ES330. The price difference from what you could get from that beautiful sounding chime from a Elite Casino with the P90's to a ES330 Humbucker setup is prob $ 200.00 >$ 400.00

Emily Remler put Humbuckers on her ES-330 (Casino Twin), so if you want to do it, go ahead.

Someday I'd like to get a second Casino and put humbuckers on it.

Why not a dot?

Light weight, full acoustic, trapeze tail, etc.

As much as I LOVE my P90 sound, sometimes I want the humbucker sound. I can do a pretty close emulation with my FX pedal, but it would be nice to have real buckers on a Casino.

The nice thing about the Duncans is you don't to destroy the guitar to drop the dog-ears in.

cb' date=' The 335 has the solid block center, the 330 is full hollowbody., but I'm sure you already knew that. :-)[/quote']

Yeah, I did/do. Still think it would be better to have a "Dot," or some other humbucker semi-hollow body, just for

the versatility, than to mod the Casino, in that fashion...but, as stated before it's his guitar, so...whatever makes him happy, is cool!

Thanks for the replies. I'm not too beholding to authentic, I have a 66 Fender Esquire that I routed out and installed a PAF in the neck position. Some people would think I'm crazy for doing that but why? I'm never gonna sell that Fender, it's my main guitar. As for the Casino, I do have both, a Lennon & the Elite. They both sound competely different. The Elite is a keeper, I can't say that about the Lennon. I've owned a 330 and a 335. The 335 was like hanging an anvil around my neck, but I did like how it sounded. Oh well, I don't think installing the duncans would make the Elite sound $340 better though.

Thanks again the replies were really entertaining.

Yes. Buy a Chinese Casino and do anything you want to it. Leave the Elite one stock.

Hell, SELL the Elite, buy 3 Chinese Casinos, and put buckers in one, strat pickups in another, and maybe a floyd rose on #3 if you're feeling silly.

My feeling exactly. Heck, If the one he has is in good shape, he could buy 4 of them.

Ricochet is the only person who addressed my question, Thank you.

I don't understand why the rest of you think a Japanese built guitar is somthing sacred. I'm not going to cut it, drill it, or route it, I'd just like to have that PAF sound on a hollow body guitar. I've tried some of those chinese built casinos and I think the action on those is awful, why would I want to waste my money on something like that?

10drum, it's comments like that make you look like you have no clue. An Elite Casino IS a sacred instrument on this forum. Almost all Epi owners wish they had what you had. It is your guitar, you can do with it what you please, but don't respond back to people that value very highly the guitar you have with an attitude. I personally was trying to get you to realize what you were doing. I see now that you could care less. When you start to realize what you are fortunate enough to have, maybe then you get some intellegient responses.

In his defense, everybody did kinda respond to his question with an attitude. "Sacred" or not, he's only asking about a replacement pickup that won't require altering the instrument further than actually replacing the pickups. It's a fair question. Would we all attack someone asking about putting a humbucker sized P-90 in a 75 Gibson LP Custom the same way? Sure, the original pickups make the instrument more authentic or whatever, but maybe he loves the instrument's feel, but wants a different sound out of it. I doubt he's going to just throw the originals away... it could always be put back the way it was if he ever sells it. Most of us customize our instruments in some way on here... let's not be so quick to judge him for doing the same, huh?

10drum, as for finding those Duncans in a store, any local music store that carries Duncan pickups can order you a set. If not, try a bigger online retailer, like Musician's Friend or Sam Ash. You might have to call them to order the pickups, but they should be able to get them for you at or around $95, possibly cheaper if you order a set of 2.
