BusterBuck Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 I picked this up for my son at a second hand store. I sounds incredible. Only problem is I am not sure what I have here. I know from the serial number that it was made in Korea in 2002. Color is trans blue. Why does it say "Gibson" on it as well as Epiphone. What makes it a limited edition? (says Limited Edition on back of head). Is this a quilt top? http://photobucket.com/transblue
Just Strum Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 post some good pics and welcome to the forum.
lostindesert Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 That looks like an Epiphone 'Les Paul Standard' authorized by Gibson. Limited edition is marketing speak, has probably something to do with the quilted veneer top and blue color. For more info we need better pics. Peter
pohatu771 Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Assuming it's your avatar picture, I'm guessing it's a Les Paul Standard plus top. The Limited Edition probably refers to the finish colour. Is Stan's green Les Paul a Limited Edition?
BusterBuck Posted December 29, 2008 Author Posted December 29, 2008 can't seem to post the pics, any words of wisdom?
Just Strum Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 can't seem to post the pics' date=' any words of wisdom?[/quote'] familiar with photobucket.com?
BusterBuck Posted December 29, 2008 Author Posted December 29, 2008 I can't seem to post the pics, so here is a link to the photos in photo bucket... http://photobucket.com/transblue Any information would be appriciated.......
Just Strum Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 I'll let the experts here give you the needed information, my job is just to pester people for pics - my work here is done. BTW, nice guitar.
AyushPresley Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 From what i see it 's the limited edition Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Transparent Blue (Quilt Top)...Well Epiphone before had those Truss rod covers in them saying Gibson, earlier, most of the korean made Epiphone said those on their Truss Rod Covers cause ofcourse it's a Gibson Product.and those kinds of tuners were used before...It's a limited edition cause there weren't many made as such..(the Trans Blue Quilt Top) , you've got a great looking axe there...congrats.. :D/
Ricochet Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Les Paul Classic Quilttop Here's a pic of some others.
pohatu771 Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 I hate to say it, but this guitar is obviously a fake... It's missing it's antlers.
AyushPresley Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 That means it's a Classic... hmmmm.. thanx..
Just Strum Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 I hate to say it' date=' but this guitar is obviously a fake... It's missing it's antlers. [/quote'] She will take care of that.
Big Norm Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Ricochet is probably right... Since the pickups are not covered with chrome, it should be a Classic Les Paul...
Gordy01 Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Busterbuck. If you want to post pics, here's how. 1. I see you already have pics on Photobucket. 2. Go to the links below the pic, left click to hilite and the right click, and go "Copy", on the IMG code. 3. Back at this site, at the top of the post click on the icon that looks like a mountain with the sun over it. 4. In the body of the post where your cursor is, you will get a 5. Click in between the 's, and paste.
BusterBuck Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 Thanks for all of the responces. i think I have an Epiphone Les Paul Classic Quilt Top in Trans Blue. If anyone disagrees, please educate me. Also if any one has any suggestions on upgrades that my son should think about, pass them along. (like better pick ups, replace tuners, etc)
epinder Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 She will take care of that. Nice Rack!!! Sorry, it popped in my mind.
Emetry Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Nice Rack!!! Sorry' date=' it popped in my mind.[/quote'] Eeh...I've seen bigger.
